It holds for quite long.

wonder how the eps will be paced?

im guessing 16 is when he dive in to ALO, maybe the eps will end when he start flying off with his 'daughter' in tow/

17 he met Lyfa + real world stuff
18... the cave?
19 is... the duel with salamander leader?
20 is joutun
21 maybe still jotun and escaping from it, after seeing <Caliber> of course.
22 reaching the world tree + real world drama since Lyfa find out about his real life ID
23 2nd assault on the world tree + boss fight
24 Epiloque

its a rough and completely random guesses.
what do you think?

I haven't read the novels yet, but am I in the general area where the SAO novels/series spans different games and not one game? Thanks in advance.

Yep. It spans a total of 4 games. Ist arc is SAO, 2nd is ALO (ALfheim Online), 3rd is GGO (Gungale Online) and fourth is UNDERWORLD (though this isn't really a game but a like whole new world filled w/ sentient AI who live normal lives, get normal jobs and worship Gods in a virtual environment as part of an experiment on what makes up a human "soul".

Just because she is a damsel in distress in ALO arc, doesn't neccessarily mean that Asuna not a heroine of that arc. And Suguha's role still(as far as it goes) one that a support character does. Her role still inferior to Yui if you really want to compare about who's the heroine for ALO arc. A heroine role is a tittle you have to the main female protagonist which is Asuna. So as far as the story concerns, she along with Silica, Lizbeth, and Sinon are counted as support characters.

I don't know about the above.

I think some arc elevated some support character to the status of heroine, eg: Lyfa for ALO and Sinon for GGO.

One thing that is consistent is Asuna who always be a main heroine throughout the story.

having two heroine is not a new thing no?

It's actually the other way around: Lyfa and Yuuki were the co-female protagonist and Sinon was THE female protagonist of their respective arcs... then were demoted to support characters. (or in Yuuki's case...)

For being promoted from support to heroine, Yui would be the one to fit that role.

Agree with that. Lyfa and Yuuki, at their respective volumes role is a support character while Sinon in her respective volume(5 and 6) is the main heroine because the story itself was about her life mainly. Of all the support female characters the one most near to a main heroine role is Sinon since she at other occasion shows some degree of main heroine while Silica, Lyfa, and Lizbeth are just there with their supportive roles. As for Yui she is, as Divini said initially a support character being given a main heroine role alongside Asuna who is always the main heroine.

In this case, the standing of importance would be:
1.Asuna(main heroine character)
2.Yui(main heroine+main support character)
3.Sinon(main support character)
4.Lyfa(support character)
5.Lizbeth(support character)
6.Silica(support character)

Anyway my version:

Asuna >All Arcs Main Heroine Character

Yui >All Arcs Main Supporting Character

Suguha/Lyfa* > ALO Arc Main Heroine

Sinon* > GGO Arc Main Heroine

All Arcs Supporting Cast :

Lizbet
Silica

* > falls to supporting cast outside their respective Arcs

I'd say she's more of a supporting character that is in all the arcs instead

frankly, outside of her own short story arc, Yui doesn't really get much time in the rest of the story.

What's the difference???

She's the most useful Supporting Character All Through SAO.. I labelled her main because of that...

They might go for the Kokoro Connect option of One and a half Cours.

Though I'd say that Mother's Rosario deserves 7-8 Episodes at least. Then again, it could also be a movie, since in theory, you could jump from GGO straight to Alicization and still understand well what is going on.

Doubt it. half cour anime is very rarely happens and usually there is special case behind it

and Alicization arc is soo big it probably need it's own season (season 3) or series of OVA which may take 4+ volume
