the concept of over/extra system skill/abilities, where a player can overwrite limitation set by the game system, does get expanded on in the later arcs, especially in Alicization, though other examples also exists, such as Kirito's ability to execute multiple sword skills in tandem in Calibur (Kawahara needs to come up with a better explanation for that one though IMO ), the end of the ALO arc etc, with the end product being somewhat similar to the Incarnate System in Accel World by Alicization, where Kirito can literally alter things in the VR world through thoughts alone.

Now Underworld is a different entity from Kayaba's SAO, but Underworld is based partially on Kayaba's work, and IIRC is based off of the Seed as well, so it's not really much of a stretch to say that there's something in the Cardinal system in SAO which allows for people to break the system/rule so to speak, esp. since the entire point of Underworld is to try to find ways for the fluctlights to break the rule. This remains a speculation however, as the inner workings of these systems remains ambiguous.

Now about Asuna and Kirito's survival at the end of SAO, that actually have nothing to do with overwriting the system or any sheer willpower. As Kayaba said to them during their post-fight meeting when they asked about the players that died, he confirmed that he specifically brought those two there because he wanted to talk to them one last time. (Though he did not tell them they weren't going to die, one last lol-troll by him I guess ).

While I normally wanted to answer the same; that this will be explained in Vol.10 one sentence of this Vol. stroke my interest and nearly killed the explaination:

If UW is really so different from Aincrad, how can we assume the same rules for both?

Also you maybe shouldn't come up with words non-novel reader probably won't understand. ^^

Fluctlight basically refers to our soul that is made out of very small light particels, that fluctuate, hence Fluctlight.

Eh, don't have the novel right in front of me atm, but I'm pretty sure Underworld was also based off the Seed, RATH did not create Underworld from scratch, not to mention I think it was also mentioned that Kayaba was involved with RATH at some point.

I'm not saying this is definitive, as the whole thing is still shrouded in ambiguity, but there are links present atm.

Well you are right, UW is based of the SEED

“If we create a virtual world within the STL main frame, we won't need any 3D data. But in that case, it would be too uninteresting to create the model data from the surveillance monitor. That's why we hurried and downloaded The Seed and used the editor that came with it to frantically create the village and surrounding landscape before using the visual mnemonics of the STL to transfer it.”

But there are certainly changes to it and we till now don't know how far these changes go

but I have to agree, the whole concept of "Imagination" most probably came up because of the SEED.

I hope that the author will give a definite explaination to how this was possible in Aincrad and ALO and not just forgot about it

Most probably it was just me, who hung himself up on that one particular sentence, without even knowing if the translation is entirely right ^^

Exact amount is never stated, but for Alfheim Online it's definitely under 3000 yen/month. My guess is that it's in the 1000-1500 range. (which is the price range for subscription-MMOs today)

Kirito says about a different VRMMO that the monthly fee is 3000 yen/month and it is "quite expensive for a VRMMO".

Add some x2 per 10 years kind of inflation and we'll get around $2500...

again, all speculation, but you get the idea that's it's expensive enough.

I think someone linked a promo poster for SAO which included a mock preorder for the SAO game and NervGear, I think the price shown was 250,000 yen, so you're pretty close on the mark there

Even the CR subs used Leafa, which makes sense when you consider she appears to be a Wood Elf-inspired fairy. So, from that, Lyfa definitely makes more sense than Rifa.

(This isn't a spoiler...) There will only be 25 episodes this time (at least on TV), but that episode count doesn't prevent there being future seasons later on.

The idea and concept of that idea was brilliant... it just doesnt seem "as much fun" when they are able to logout whenever they like and the setting is diffgerent!
