Confirmed on the latest radio show video special that Chuunibyou will have 7 BD volumes with 13 episodes + Lite Episodes. With the 7th volume having an unbroadcasted Episode 13, and the Lite episodes.

The 13th episode isn't surprising. Since the first Clannad series, Pony Canyon has been able to get KyoAni to make a BD/DVD-only episode for the series they've worked on. I was actually halfway expecting something like this, but thought it would be announced near the end of the broadcast.

That's a good question. There's a part in volume 2 that I think would be perfect as episode 13 since it could be cut out and done by itself better than the rest of the novel. It'd be a great "finale" while leaving something for the end of the broadcast episodes.

Yumeha seems to be just a sister to me. The mom however, was a little too much wrong-genry-savvy (on purpose) and was hamming it up (hilariously) to push Yumeha's buttons.

It was never confirmed to be anything other than 12 episodes prior to today's announcement. KyoAni makes calendars for their shows that air that year or they're selling something for (This year it's Hyouka, K-On! movie, and Chuunibyou with the former two being 7 page calendars and the last being a single pin-up).
