I think he should run for president in 2016 and the giant pizza snack can be his VP pick. His cabinet would include Emeril Lagasse, Colonel Sanders, and Mayor McCheese.

That's the thing. The OSCE has a high reputation for their election observers, and their observations are considered to be very credible. It's the very same reaction that happened in the past when the Red Cross was denied access to "terrorists" in Guantanamo: The officials are treating it as an OUTRAGE that outside observers want to check for crimes. We're the United States of America, for chrissakes. We're the GOOD guys, how can you DARE insinuate that something might be fishy here.

Then again, we know how the reality is.

And then yet again, we know that the majority of American citizens don't care. So they get away with it.

@queuing times to vote: here in Ireland, come vote day, I go down to my local school, get my ballot paper, fill it out, drop it in a box, and am out in 5 minutes.

Who needs machines?

Also, I'm a bit pissed off cause I never got my absentee ballot in the mail. What gives? Maybe I needed to re-register or something...

From the conventions to the eve of the final presidential debate, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have both received more negative than positive coverage from the news media, though overall Obama has had an edge, according to a new study.

Y'know. I've always wondered why no one ever pressed that issue.

Oh right. Right-wing Christians turned away and let this slide. It's all about the Republican Brand Name after all.

Being Christian myself -- I've always found this position to be disappointing.

I found this in the article:

Quote:
The shift by social conservatives was cemented in a sense last month, when the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association removed Mormonism from a list of religious cults, as first reported by the Charlotte Observer...
They don't label it as a cult anymore, so long as it gets more voters for Romney, so long as they can get Obama out of the white house. But if Obama gets re-elected, you can guarantee that a little while after election day they will quietly add Mormonism back to their list of cults...

So they don't think Romney did a little too much LDS in the 60s?

Welp, now we know.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-1...donations.html

Quote:
Romney Avoids Taxes via Loophole Cutting Mormon Donations

In 1997, Congress cracked down on a popular tax shelter that allowed rich people to take advantage of the exempt status of charities without actually giving away much money.

Individuals who had already set up these vehicles were allowed to keep them. That included Mitt Romney, then the chief executive officer of Bain Capital, who had just established such an arrangement in June 1996.

The charitable remainder unitrust, as it is known, is one of several strategies Romney has adopted over his career to reduce his tax bill. While Romney’s tax avoidance is legal and common among high-net-worth individuals, it has become an issue in the campaign. President Barack Obama attacked him in their second debate for paying “lower tax rates than somebody who makes a lot less.”

In this instance, Romney used the tax-exempt status of a charity -- the Mormon Church, according to a 2007 filing -- to defer taxes for more than 15 years. At the same time he is benefiting, the trust will probably leave the church with less than what current law requires, according to tax returns obtained by Bloomberg this month through a Freedom of Information Act request...
Boy, Bloomberg's just turning into one big dirty hippie, isn't he?

Chris Christie Denied Mitt Romney Request To Appear At Campaign Event Days Ahead Of 2012 Election
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...n_2079371.html
Quote:
Christie's decision will only add to questions among Republicans about what the governor -- who is up for reelection a year from now -- is thinking, and why he went out of his way to heap praise on the president, and then refused to appear with Romney.

The Romney rally was held at a farm in Morrisville, Pa., not more than 20 minutes from Trenton, the New Jersey capital. The physical proximity of the event to New Jersey only added to questions in the Romney campaign about why Christie chose not to come.

"You can't tell me he couldn't have gone over there for a night rally," a Romney campaign source told HuffPost.

Romney, at the rally on Sunday night, praised Christie's handling of the storm from the podium, saying that the governor was "giving it all of his heart and his passion to help the people of his state."

There's something wrong with their priorities (as if we didn't know that already) if they question why he wouldn't mind appearing with the President, but not a Governor who is merely running for President, during a national disaster.

It might be an old notion, but aren't members of the Church of Later Day Saints suppose to turn over something like 10% of their income to the Church? That way the LDS and community networks can fuction easily for those that don't make so much.
