F-35 is for countering J-20. Japan don't need carrier F-35s when ground based ones are far better for its case

Quote:
Oh, well, say a ground force suddenly strikes and enters Singapore, what will you have the 100 F35s to do? Bomb their own city to root out the invasion? You probably can have them to carry out a counter strike, but where do you have them refuel after that?

.........

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

The air force is for sitting around right until an invasion force lands on our shores....

That's a good one

Technically speaking, he's completely right. We are just buying jets so US stands on our side, and we show our neighbours that like them, we aren't pro-China; erstwise they invade us.

And that is why our so-friendly neighbour has a new GGK camp in Mersing.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Yeah, that's the main reason but it's not as if they are useless white elephants. Since when did this money grubbing leadership spend on anything without use

It is a political motive, so I don't think it is a useless white elephant. We need something to hold off China until the CCP gets overthrown and the country starts being a proper superpower.

Mental disorders in Singapore
Quote:
Over the last decade, the prevalence of mental disorders, the extent of disability caused by these disorders, and services utilisation of these patients have been well studied in a number of developed countries (Britain, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan).

In Singapore, we have yet to make a comprehensive and detailed study of the rates of the myriad of mental disorders and its protean consequences. The studies to date have mainly established the prevalence of a rather limited range of mental disorders without examining the levels of disability, treatment gaps and the access to care.

Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish the prevalence of select mental disorders and their associated socio-demographic correlates in the adult Singapore resident population.

Among the 6,616 respondents (response rate of 75.9 per cent):
  • Up to 12 per cent had at least one lifetime affective, anxiety, or alcohol-use disorders.
  • The lifetime prevalence of major depressive disoder was 5.8 per cent and that of bipolar disorder was 1.2 per cent.
  • The combined lifetime prevalence of generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and obsessive compulsive disorder was 3.6 per cent, with the latter being more common than GAD (0.9 per cent and 3 per cent respectively).
  • The lifetime prevalence of alcohol abuse and dependence were 3.1 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively.
Age, gender, ethnicity, marital status and chronic physical illnesses were all significant correlates of mental disorders.

NOTE : GAD can be confused with ADHD or that ridiculous amount of information flowing through a head due to dyslexia.

Or at least that is what a psychiatrist told me.

Another thing, why the heck did you choose that article to post? Is that supposed to be an indirect reply to the new "emotionless society" tag on us?

The new Japanese carrier are about the size of an American Essex-class carrier or the larger Japanese carriers built during the Second World War. The Hyūga class helicopter destroyer is smaller, fitting into the old Light Carrier territory.

Even then, they are large enough to maybe two squadrons of F-35s as they are not that much larger (in dimensions) than the F11 used in the late 1950s on the Essex-class carriers. The Hyuga-class, probably just one squadron with attached other craft like the current Italian carriers.

Wasn't the WWIII supposed to be a nuclear war in Ghost in the Shell ?

Syria says Turkey's bid for NATO missiles "provocative"

They really search hard for ''provocation'', the Patriot is a Surface-Air missile. At least if they would had ask for some JDAM or Bunker Buster ...

It is a missile that goes UP, not DOWN.

Bid for a Storm Shadow, Turkey. Your European Abrahamic brothers welcome you to.

I wouldn't be surpried than they self-destruct if they miss their intended target, just to avoid than they explode on a populated area or a friendly unit.

Something would still have to come down, even if it were just shrapnel.

U.S. set for fracking bonanza, says historian Ferguson

Quote:
Hong Kong (CNN) -- If there's been one consistent thread running through the U.S. economic story since 2008, it's been the steady drumbeat of gloom.
Outright recession or sub-standard growth, stubbornly high unemployment and fiscal crises have been the topics du jour when it comes to the world's biggest economy.

it would offer Turkey decent protection from Syria's Surface to Surface missiles.
which could, in turn, be viewed as the first step in Turkey's intention of becoming actively involved in the conflict in Syria.

Given the number of refugees they got from the conflict, I would say than they are already involved.
