The second season tells the story told in Volume 3 of the Index novels, aka the Sisters arc. The story is directly based on the spin off comic Railgun. Unlike the first season that told the story of all four of them, the Sisters arc is centered on an incident related to Mikoto herself and provides a close up of her personal problems. Until now, Mikoto has been resolving incidents that involve those around her, but how will she deal with these "sparks" that are falling directly on her. Season 2 will show a side of Railgun that has not been seen before.

I got to shout "Oh! Finally!!" ahead of all of you when I heard Railgun Season 2 was set to be produced.
At the same time, I distinctly felt the flow of time.
It's a monthly manga, so the amount stocked up is directly proportional to the flow of time.
It made me think, "Ah, so we've reached the point where we have enough for an anime."
Thinking back, the 1st season was created with quite a special staff construction.
With the writer, artist, editorial department, and anime staff, we had some difficulty figuring out who was at the center of it all.
Really, there was no clear center and everyone brought various ideas to the table. It feels it was born out of a miracle of inefficient production.

Kamachi Comment 2
Unlike the main story where you can enjoy the contrast between magic and science, I think the draw of Railgun is getting a taste of Academy City when you crawl deeper into it.
You can enjoy everything about Academy City from the bright conversations between schoolgirls to the deep darkness that should be avoided at all costs.
The story is filled with battle scenes that I bet will be really hard to animate, so you should be able to enjoy seeing the original work come to life.
And at the same time, certain characters are going to be given VAs, so watch out for that as well.

The exciting developments in Railgun Season 1 were wonderful.
When creating exciting battle scenes with girls, my view is that you cannot just take a scene with a male character covered in blood and getting back up no matter how many times he is knocked down and then just replace him with a girl.
I was impressed with the anime staff's ability to present that so well.
And when I heard Season 2 was set, it made me realize once more what an amazing work Index is. Even its side story got animated and got a sequel anime.
I feel like my role is 99% over after I draw the manga, but I want to help out whenever possible!
Obviously I'm not making the anime and I'm not going to say anything irresponsible, but from all the ideas I saw the staff coming up with to polish things up at the occasional script meeting I would attend, I feel I can say this anime will live up to all the fan's expectations.
I will we be waiting excitedly for it to air along with all of you.

When I was first asked to be the director for Railgun, I felt a lot of pressure about having characters that already had such popularity being entrusted with me.
I still feel that pressure, but I will do my absolute best so as not to lose to the power of Fuyukawa-san's original manga!
And to be honest, I was shocked when I heard Season 2 was set to be produced.
This is is the Sisters Arc, which is extremely popular even out of everything in the original manga.
I personally love the story.
It has such charming characters and is set in Academy City. And you can feel Fuyukawa-san's love for the series oozing from the pages.
I will be doing my absolute best to ensure you can feel the charm of Railgun in the anime as well!
And now we can all enjoy how pathetic Accelerator is once more even though that has already been wrapped up in the manga.

I'd say pathetic fits what Accelerator was during the Level 6 Shift.

He was pathetic even after the Level 6 shift; whenever he's not working he's one big ball of emo. The reason why we don't notice it is because Kamachi usually put him to work doing crazy shit.

He's the only guy that needed to be punched twice- No, four times by everyone.

I think that way of expresing how he thinks of Accelerator is harsh, I mean even if he was that would make Mikoto fall below that because despite being the MC of the story all she did action aside was pointlessly trying to stop the project alone, went emo, then crazy and finally suicidal even if that achieved nothing.

I think "pathetic" is an understandable description of Accelerator.
I mean, he's the most powerful Level 5 and he decided to gain moar power so that "no one will disturb him anymore". IIRC, he decided to join the Level 6 Shift for that purpose, but at the same time, he participated to the experiments with the intent of injecting fear into the hearts of the Sisters. 9968 attempts later, he still fails.

That's why he is weak when playing with words about his determination during his fight against Touma's strong will.

The original word would most probably be 'Nasakenai', which means miserable, pitiable, shameful, whichever one applies.

Sigh, once again guys you have to try to remember that this is a translation and that Japanese and English aren't the same thing.

I have a feeling this will make many anime-only viewers hate Accelerator even more since we'll actually see his horrible acts more closely and how badly they hurt and effect Mikoto who's only trying to stop the killings.

They better have a friendship moment, with all of Mikoto's friends, after the sisters arc with Mikoto figuring out that she shouldn't be afraid to rely on her friends just like they rely on her.

Also, give us more Touma in Railgun!

I don't know, for a long time it seems that Accelerator fans have been making light of his past sins but now with Railgun II this would serve as a reminder- At the same time when Index III comes out it would help justify all the self-hatred that we'll be seeing from him.

Not to mention should they include his monologue, it would definitely shed much needed light on what goes on in his head.
