Epic (2013)

Described as a "battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and evil", 'Epic' tells the tale of a teenage girl and her adventures in a secret world right next door to ours, where she must team up with fantastical and whimsical characters in order to save their world. Starring Amanda Seyfried as the main character (got to say, it's always nice to see a lead female protagonist for this type of film) and a bevy of other big name actors (literally; Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell' Beyoncé Knowles, Christoph Waltz, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Chris O'dowd and many more), this looks like a heavy contendor for biggest animated feature of 2013 (and it has the potential to be one of the best).

While there is a definite 'Ferngully'/'Avatar' vibe (albeit with a female protagonist), I am still very impressed with the visuals (especially the second trailer) and the pedigree (William Joyce wrote the original story and Chris Wedge is the director and Danny Elfman is the composer).

p.s. Snow Patrol's "What If the Storm Ends?" is the song heard during both trailers, and it is used to wonderful effect.

I always find the saying "beyond your imagination" very patronising :P

Looks interesting though, Love ice age, never watched Rio but I like things in forests and I like little peoples.

Nice to see a band from my part of the world having their song used for the trailer for the most anticipated animated feature of 2013.

P.S. Chris O'Dowd is the man, I bet the character he plays will be the fan fav (he was the one who said "hello" at the end bit of trailer 2)
