However, there is a weakness in him in that his cooking experience and intuition is mostly restricted within his diner, so he knows nothing of the wider culinary world and is ignorant of culinary theory. He only knows about the honey solution because he experimented, not because he knows chemistry, so he's going to flounder when given his first paper test to fill out. Of course, this is probably why his father told him to close the shop and go see the world first. |

Besides, some of those other nameless mooks also got an A for their dish. Given that Souma's set-up as a character already establishes him as highly skilled, even if unorthodox, it makes sense that he's a class above characters who don't even get names to themselves.

My problem is that, one whole volume in, Souma's still breezing through it all. We've never even seen Erina cook. What exactly is his challenge at the school supposed to be if even the strictest teacher looks like a pushover to him? His dominance has to be tempered somehow soon before it gets boring. |

Well, in my opinion he's breezing through because it's barely started and we're pretty much haven't see the elite "1%" abilities yet. It's a bunch of random grunts so far. He will have his match, we just have to wait for the plot to thicken.

Wow, I love these series and to know who is the author makes it more hilarious. BTW I have just seen an american "MasterChief" episode and guess what, there competitors had to make a dish where egg is a vital and the most important ingredient to make it to the show. Its 2010 season.

![]() ![]() While I did have some doubts about Megumi she is fitting nicely into the story right now, it's oddly amusing and endearing in a way that she's so unfortunate and pitiful and god knows how that is possible?! Really liking this, hope we see more of younger Fumio again

Seems this is doing quite well in Jump, ranked 5th in this weeks jump though there is some debate as to whether or not it's a proper ranking.. it shouldn't be but because of the double issue it may be.
Regardless it seems the editorial stuff have mentioned that it's very popular, it's also getting exra pages next issue. Usually I don't read Jump manga until they're kinda safe, so it's good to see that the last few I took a chance on are popular (Ac) or seem to be (this one). |
