Camouflaged amongst the forested landscape on the hillside is a small yet elaborate infrastructure that serves as the base of operations for the renegade group Praxidike. Most of the base is within Mount Nokogiri, with only a few structures jutting out and facing towards Tokyo Bay from a high elevation that both Tokyo Bay and the Infinite Stratos Academy are completely in plain sight.
Standing at the elevated lookout platform is Gerald Bastion, leading member of Praxidike, sighing as he watches a column of smoke spewing out from the very distant IS Academy. Despite the apparent failure to deter the Golems from reaching the Academy, he remains relatively calm as though failure itself was one of the expectations of the attempt given that it is the Minerva’s first live sortie. The door behind him sweeps open and he turns around to see Jinrai Takafumi, the engineer responsible for developing weapons and the Minerva, entering along with Inami, Minerva’s user.
“Arisawa.”
Inami sinks his head with sheer disappointment as he could only imagine the terrible magnitude of rage that might be building up inside Gerald after committing such a huge blunder for his first mission. He hears Gerald stepping towards them but he could not bear to look up and face him. The sounds of his steps draw closer and stop directly in front of him.
“It wasn’t a failure. Don’t put your head down like that.”
Not a failure? Inami could not believe what he just heard. Did Gerald not realize that his blunder has allowed a Golem to pass towards the Academy and wreck havoc upon the school, the very cause of the smoke column he’s seen spewing out from the Academy? Yet, the Praxidike leader mentioned it was not and Inami slowly raises his head, looking at him with a confused expression.
“Had you not tried to intercept, the Academy would have to deal with two of those monsters.”
“But still…”
“And you might’ve been killed had you tried to take on both giants at once.”
Supposedly the idea here is that in Athena-verse, TWO Golems were sent to attack the Academy during their Class League tourney. One got intercepted by the Minerva while the other got past and attacked the Academy.

Assuming you use the excuse for golem Type 1 not having energy barrier, then yes, it's plausible to take golem type 1 EASILY after you analyzed it. It's armor wasn't really that thick, you just need to dismember and wreck it until it couldn't attack.

I can guarantee that yes, no difference between them.
Assuming the core is not destroyed/damaged, blasting it's head will only hinder it a little, cue heavy barrage. As we discussed before, it's either core damage or total body wreckage.

= Minerva Noa =
The Minerva Noa (or simply “Noa”) is a Minerva-class powered armor unit. When the Athena AI chose Tsurugi Katami as its custodian and pilot, it chose Inami Arisawa as its guardian and provided Minerva’s creator, Jinrai Takafumi, with blueprints for a sister unit to the Athena IS. The blueprints would then lead him to develop the Noa, a Minerva-class powered armor that has the capability to initiate independent ascension to space as well as atmospheric re-entry.
Unlike the preceding Minerva units, the Noa’s powered by a more sophisticated network of miniaturized particle generators which allows it to posses exponentially more power than its predecessors. The network of particle generators not only generate power but also convert them into separate streams of ionized particles; positrons, electrons and neutrons. This is necessary for the Noa which requires utilization of a positron barrier to escape Earth’s atmosphere. With the improved miniaturized particle generators, like the preceding Algolis Shroud, the Noa also benefits from sustained flight capability without suffering from immense bulk of the former which only allows for sustained hovering over all terrains.
Like the Athena, electrostatic fibers are also part of the composite alloy that makes the Noa’s armor, allowing it to generate additional power in the natural presence of ions. To assist with pilot life-support in outer space, the Noa’s helmet has a special device integrated into its side vents that converts particles and ions into oxygen as they enter the helmet, allowing the pilot to breathe normally even in a vacuum environment.
Despite being a guardian unit to the Athena, the Noa does not have the means for independent interstellar travel. The Noa requires physical contact with the Athena as it initiates its Tachyon Phase feature and remain in contact until Tachyon Phase ends.
As a guardian unit, the Noa sports limited but potentially lethal weaponry to allow for decisive attacks and protection of Athena:
- Type-02S. The Noa’s primary weapon, a double-edged sword that’s made out of titanium alloy, laced with titanium carbide and adamantine making it one of the hardest blades in existence. The blade is decorated with thin electrostatic panels that emit blue light when active. The panels serve as a device that allows the user the manipulate particles when in use, particularly projecting a crescent wave of ionized particles when the sword is swung. The “S” in the name stands for Susanoo, which is the name of one of the Japanese Shinto Gods. The sword is stored on a physical scabbard attached to the left side of the Noa’s waist.
- Type-03P DEIR. Short for “Direct Engagement Ion Rifle” , the Type-03P is basically a semi-auto, handheld variation of the Algolis Shroud’s Type-03 RIPR “Ripper” but unlike the Type-03C DEPC, which is the handheld carbine variation, the Type-03P retains the Ripper’s ability to fire 105mm-equivalent of hyper-compact ionized particles. As an improvement over the Ripper, the Type-03P has an internal revolving chamber that holds six pre-charged shots. Once all six chambers are used, the weapon automatically initiates a four-second recharge period on all chambers concurrently. This recharge period can also be initiated by the user manually even when not all the chambers are exhausted. The “P” in the name stands for Promethean, referring to the weapon’s size and firepower. The Type-03P is stored on an armor-mounted sub-arm attachment on the back of the Noa’s right shoulder.
Like the Algolis Shroud, the Noa can only be mounted onto the user and vice versa via a special construction platform due to the specialized nature of the unit’s armor parts. However, the helmet can still be removed by the user as and when they wish.
Other features:
- A passive defense particle barrier system that projects a translucent, slightly bluish-tinted protective sphere around the Noa. The projected barrier is similar to a geodesic dome, made of tessellating hexagons and passively protects the Noa from virtually any forms of projectiles upon impact. It may also be manually deployed as a concentrated shield to block melee strikes, both solid and energy-based alike.
= Atmospheric exit/re-entry feature. The Noa deploys layers of positron outside its protective barrier which disintegrates the air it comes into contact with, eliminating any forms of air resistance as the Noa paves its own way into outer space or initiating atmosphere re-entry where it prevents the Noa from burning up due to atmospheric friction.
= Moonlight Dance. An ion-discharge system that involves the Noa expelling huge amounts of ions that allows the Athena to recover its power, through the electrostatic panels integrated into its own armor, at the expense of the Noa exhausting its own.

The Athena is an Infinite Stratos (IS) unit. Built from the AI Athena’s vast knowledge of the world’s advanced space projects, the Athena is built with the sole purpose of independent space exploration without the need for scheduled maintenance or re-supply which allows for prolonged exploration missions.
The Athena’s life-force is the Infinite Stratos Core that manages the entirety of the unit. Power supply, data processing and overall management of the Athena is done solely by the IS Core itself which also houses the IS’ namesake AI, Athena. Appearance-wise, the Athena’s design is inspired by present powered armor designs to the extent that the materials used to construct it is recycled from another powered armor.
The Athena’s frame is integrated with composite electrostatic fibers, allowing the IS to generate its own power in the presence of ions.
As space exploration would demand a degree of interstellar travel, the Athena’s utilizes a unique frame design which allows the Athena to enter and exit the hyperspace plane easily with the right level of energy saturation, granting the IS faster-than-light travel capability. In standard flight mode, the Athena’s acceleration and max speeds are comparable to that of a 3rd Gen IS. Its primary equipment consists of the Cartographer system which, as its name implies, maps out the universe wherever the Athena decides to explore.
Despite its prime purpose, the Athena still sports limited weaponry for defensive purposes:
= Amaterasu. A double-edge sword which consists of three solid sections separated by small gaps revealing its internal frame which the same composite electrostatic fibers that’s integrated into the unit’s main body. Despite its appearance, it boasts higher cutting power and is sturdier than the preceding Type-02 “Sen No Nami” buster sword. The composite electrostatic fibers internal frame glows bright yellow when it comes into contact with ions.
= Six wing bits arranged as twin seraphic wings behind the unit. Unlike the Blue Tears, the Athena’s wing bits do not shoot due to the wing bits’ lack of muzzles. Instead, the wing bits serve as particle beam projectors working in tandem with the Athena’s sword to project particle beams of various patterns for defensive and, should it be necessary, offensive purposes.
The Athena’s Closed Form takes the form of a ring that has an azure-colored engraving of the infinity symbol.
Other features:
= Tachyon Phase. A feature unique only to the Athena which, in place of superb atmospheric mobility, grants the IS faster-than-light travel capability through pure energy saturation on the IS’ frame, which is also designed for easy entry and exit out of the hyperspace plane. While it is a specialized capability unique to the Athena alone, it is not classified as a One-Off Ability (OOA).
The Tachyon Phase is separated into two distinct levels:
- Phase One, the Athena’s basic, unassisted level of hyperspace travel which can be achieved solely with the Athena’s frame. Phase One involves the Athena getting supersaturated with pure energy via its internal frame, allowing the IS to enter the invisible hyperspace plane. The energy saturation of the Athena’s frame requires a lot of power that, even with the perpetual energy supply system, the Athena can only execute a maximum of five consecutive hyperspace entries before running out of power.
- Phase Two, the Athena’s advanced, interstellar level of hyperspace travel which requires the usage of its wing bits. Phase Two involves the Athena’s wing bits to be supersaturated with pure energy which allows them to form a circular portal into the hyperspace plane. The wing bits create a curtain of pure energy which coats the Athena as it enters the hyperspace plane followed by the wing bits themselves. As Phase Two’s execution will leave a powerful space distortion and displacement at the point of entry, activation of Phase Two in an atmospheric environment is strictly discouraged.
= Cartographer. A mapping system developed by the Athena AI as a method to map out the universes it explores. The system involves the Athena deploying a very wide, low-power, spherical energy barrier around the unit which serves as a field of energy that will “scan” the silhouette of any celestial object that enters the field and maps them into a miniature, three-dimensional holographic map. The field is also tuned to be hyper-sensitive to gravitation forces, allowing it to determine the orbiting path of planets, moons and other stars if they have any.
Like the Tachyon Phase, the Cartographer also has two modes of operations:
- Roaming Mode, the standard and default mode of the Cartographer which involves the Athena maintaining a very wide spherical field of low-power energy as it roams around freely in space and mapping every planet, moon and star that enters the field.
- Repulse Mode, the alternate mode that causes the Athena to produce a high-power repulsive spherical energy wave akin to that of a three-dimensional sonar. While the Repulse Mode has a much wider scanning range, it also consumes more power in order to maintain the expanding energy field as it scans every celestial body in the unit’s vicinity. Nevertheless, the power output for this scanning mode can be changed according to how wide of an area does the user wish to scan.
