I agree with Rueben with his interview. I also do not like the direction of the character, I tired the game, I personally didn't like the gameplay as well.

It's for the casuals, but I don't think that's inherently a bad thing despite what people might think. I myself missed out on alot of games in my childhood-teen age, so I know trying to get into these long series with relatively long history can be quite intimidating.

That being said however, aren't they looking down on casuals too much? When I first played Ninja Gaiden 2 I had no idea that the game had a reputation for being tough as nails- I just assumed that I sucked at it

But eventually I still completed the game. Being a casual doesn't mean they can take a challenge.

That's why I see where ppl come from when they say the combat is more accessible and streamlined for casuals and ppl new to the series. Then again I also agree that they should also keep experienced players in mind when considering gameplay depth and overall challenge.

Kinda like what the original games did easy and easy automatic mode.

I don't think anyone would argue that

Except maybe Dante from DMC4 but even then it wasn't as epic as Vergil's final boss fight.

Nevan and Beowulf from DMC3 need the top two spots. Not even having them on the list is a crime.

I stopped at number 10 because seeing Phantom reminded me I need to replay Devil May Cry again for the 50th time. I need to beat my record of 1h 23m. I'll speed run it on hard DMD when I get a little better.

Yeah, the original DMC will do that to ya. I've been meaning to play it again. On the PS2 of course. I used cheats to unlock Super Dante, and wreck shit up. I'm nowhere near any good to beat the harder modes. So that means the HD re-releases are out of the question for me. Well...maybe for DMC3. I can handle easy mode on DMC1 no problem. But DMC3 is unforgiving on all modes. At least that's how I remember it.

The HD Collection contains the special edition of DMC3, which is a bit toned down in difficulty, so you may want to try that.

Been meaning to try out the harder version of DMC3, but there's really no point since it doesn't have extras special edition has. Still a little curious though.

They disabled saves and trophies with the DMC3 cheat code though

. I can't get Super Dante on my own. I was never good enough to beat anything above normal.
