Inia is one character I'd hate to see get NOM'd by the BETA; she's just too adorable and innocent.

There's an issue that's been bugging me a bit about Inia's and what she's capable of.

Spoiler for Alternative III Related Stuff:

Does it seem to anyone that the series is kind of inconsistent about how powerful Inia's ESP is? When she first meets Yuuya in Episode 4 she can tell he got "scolded" and knows his name without asking. Yet in later episodes she doesn't display that kind of ability. Perhaps that's kind of a good thing, as if she could read other people's minds at will she could have blown the lid on the RLF infiltration well before their takeover of Yukon Base. However it does bug me that the series wasn't consistent in this regard.

You have to remember she is from the same batch as Trista Sestina, who we all know as Yashiro Kasumi and just to make everything clear, their last name Sestina actually stands for Sixth Generation Esper. Now admittedly, Kasumi's wasn't the most powerful either, but she was able to answer questions that someone had on their mind at the moment they were thinking them. Espers have the ability to read the emotions of people through colors and get a general sense of their personality from this as well, the other half is that they can pick out images from their minds as well. So the ability to see someone get scolded, not a big deal. The 00 Unit was a completely different ballpark since it combined many different abilities that wasn't possible with a human Esper.

Regarding on Inia being able to pick up on the RLF infiltration, she cannot read people's minds completely, no Espers really can. Then you have to take into consideration that there are people with dark thoughts everywhere, a good example would be the pilots in Russia that attack Inia/Cryska.

Actually them espers need to be rather close to the target to read their minds. They can't just sweep a wide area around them across a multi kilometer base.

In any case, it was hilarious how many people in the higher ups across all the countries and the UN actually knew about the attack, but sat on it thinking they would wait and see how the others react until it went off early and caught them with their pants down.

What I loled at Rebirth's Epilogue is that Silvio was sent to Yukon to be in a position to respond to the attack... and arrived after everything was done.

Ditto the Delta Force and Spetsnaz guys forward deployed, as well as the Infinities using the confusion of the attack to blow up the Soviet G-element research site.

Well Yuuko did say that the attack would take place in a few days from reports, but TrollSakon suddenly appeared saying the shit was going down now... which was why Silvio had to rush to the HSST. Looks like he barely made it in time to save some Boeing rep...perhapes the VN will show more.

Also, while on the subjects of ESPers: ESP powers can be blocked by something called "Buffwhite Device", which can be apparently concealed as a clothing article. Alternative Chronicles 3 suggests its made from specific combination of alloys (unless that's another, different means of blocking ESP). Given that Master seems to be pretty high-up in the Muv-Luv world, it wouldn't be a surprise if Terrorists in Yukon were equipped with those, if only as a precaution.

It does however explain the large reliance of automated TSFs - besides bolstering the forces of poorly-trained RLF, automated drones cannot be discovered via the ESP "sense" that combat pilots like Cryska and Inia have.


Personally, I'm more curious as to who Inia *really* is....some of the frames suggest that she may be so far the most unstable character yet, which is Muv-Luv verse is quite an achievement.

Did Mamiko Noto get to be on a radio show with Hitomi Nabatame for Total Eclipse? I hear the two of them get along pretty well (having had a lot of experience together when working on School Rumble), to the point that Nabatame called Noto one of her various "wives," so I think they must have had a lot of fun together for Total Eclipse.

I didn't remember too much about the ideosyncracies of Kasumi's powers aside from the fact that it took conscious effort for her to read a mind. But to me Inia tended to come across as a considerably less powerful ESPer than Kasumi. (And yes I'm aware they're both supposed to be part of the same generation.)

I suppose Inia might not be keen to dive into the minds of people she perceives as thinking nasty thoughts, but you'd think she might pick up on their being something sinister about the large number of not so inconspicuous Coeurl Express people around the base and mention it to Cryska or something. Also, Sandek never seems to try to use her very much for espionage work despite how useful her ability would be there. (Though then again, I'm not sure I would want to trust Inia with conducting highly sensitive espionage work.)

Meh, I guess its an element that seems to be kind of ignored/underutilized at times. A bit too game breaking, perhaps.
