Announcement of an unexpected sort.

Another series I never expected to get picked up for 'casting because, like Da Capo, no season of it ever had. Welcome to the future.

It's worth noting that when Funi put up the first episode on its site today, it was listed as episode 40. Which hints they may have plans to acquire the rest of the franchise.

I really enjoy Minami-ke, but the key to it is to not expect too much. When Funimation calls it "hysterical", that's just what it is not. The charm is the subtle, almost believable comedy. The characters feel like people you might have known. I would not surprised if, many years from now, I start mixing them up with actual people. "Have I told you about these friends of mine, back in the days..."

I think by that point you'll just be going senile.

Well ... I hafta admit I liked Itlandm's analysis, but even so the particular execution of that recipe does not really work for me in any of the seasons thus far - it's not bad, and makes me chuckle sometimes too. But it is not bellysplitting. I guess it seems the most effective for me when it is endearing.

I have to admit, Uchida was so cute in maid outfit.

You nailed it for me. The nice thing about Minami-ke for me is the atmosphere. The comedy is valuable too of course, but the show for me is truly an exercise in nostalgia. It's about viewing everyday life from an entirely different lens. For that sake, feeling is very important. As such, the whole thing has to feel natural, nothing has to force itself. This is what the SoL comedy genre is all about, the way I see it.

This episode turned out to be even better than the first one, all the sketches were highly enjoyable. I especially like the fact that the staff has nailed the timing of jokes (almost)perfectly, which in my opinion is the most crucial part of any comedy show (which is a rare sight nowadays, unfortunately).
As always, the only real downside of this show is the same as any other good shows' - a week is a pretty damn long time to wait for the next episode

Oh, wow. Episode 3 was really entertaining. A few more episodes like this and I'd argue that this is way better than season 1. The girls look a lot more adorable in this season and Hitomi's voice acting isn't so out there anymore. Banzai!

Looking forward to Fujioka's role in Minami Quest in the commercial break.

I have to admit that I don't remember Natsuki being that tall.

Good episode, we finally got the advent of Ninomiya-kun and Sensei back.

If I remember correctly, the Minami-ke seasons were all made by different studios. Hence, Funimation will need to acquire the rights from each different studio.

I love this series so much. There really is never much to discuss about, but it is such a joy to watch. The Minami-ke franchise is probably one of my favorite series all-time. It just feels so nostalgic to watch. It makes me feel like I want to curl up under a blanket on the couch next to a fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and watch the show. The vibe and feel of the show is unexplainable how it just gets.

Oh wow, Bible black faces, Sensei and Ninomiya kun were back again. This is Minami-ke I know. Season 4 is amazing and just as good as Season 1 so far.

Hmmm..am I the only one who is not really impressed with the first 3 episodes? The humour is a hit and miss for me.

I can't really complain, can I? I have been warned not to expect much anyway, lol.

Oh wow, sensei and Ninomiya-kun are back! We hadn't seen them since the first season, correct? That was nostalgic.

I'm loving this season so far. It retains much of the charm of the first season, and the comedic timing is perfect.

The show is bringing back a lot of elements from season 1, but Kawaguchi is still adding his own touches, like the SD eyecatches between segments. Also, the Kana-Touma-Chiaki trio is well versed in the scientific method in regards to the waterwatch theory. I also like that Touma's expertise in handicrafts is being emphasized here. Gives her a new dimension compared to past seasons.
