I've seen some fanart that posits those yellow bottles in Himawari's room may be... something else. A Super Haker would have different hygienic habits than a person who gets out more. Though that's not going to be a problem after this week, but the ideas fans come up with, at times scary and yet plausible. Akane's got quite a swing in any sort of sports if she can break a window and a camera - I also liked that that scene let us a see a roster of the minor characters in Akane's class. Going by what the other Vivids have been like, this means Akane's fused form is likely to have a giant boomerang of some sort. Though I do wonder if Akane always has to be the one doing the docking, or if other possibilities are available. Either way, glad to see the entire team of four assembled.

Himawari and Love Live's Kotori are the same person, but her singing voice wasn't quite as high pitched in this ending, and it helped that it blended with Ayane Sakura's a bit. I have been quite curious about Rei, so looking forward to seeing what's up with her. That ring of feathers on her neck can't be good.

So Rei warped and twisted by the dark power of the Father's experiments sets out to see that engine reduced to a smoking crater in the ground.

But the questions in her begin to grow and doubts take hold......

Very cliched, I thought somewhat similarly too but not as detailed the genius who is scorned and for his work and cast aside, only to have his ramblings proven true when it's too late, I think that's too simple of a revenge story nowadays There's just some things that didn't add up though. Namely, grandpa Isshiki seemed very surprised of the Alone during the accident, which would imply he was largely unaware of their existence prior to that. Also, it looks like Isshiki was the one who insisted on the Alone's existence after the accident, and being shunned for it, with the Engine eventually completed afterwards makes it look counter productive for the crow

The other part is, Akane's parent's. At least, her mother, who we've only seen, who was also working on the Engine. So this isn't just grandpa, but rather a family affair who helped create the engine. The one to gain fame would be the entire family, and if we're keeping up with the cliche's, it might be like Evangelion and Akane mommy might actually be the one who spearheaded this experiment, and losing her life to it too. There's also the part where the Alone utilize power from the Engine, how does someone not involved with the project able to use the engine? Supposing the crow is Rei's dad, maybe he also worked on the engine as well, and for some strange reason the day of the accident was also "bring your kids to work day" which would explain why Akane was even there (where's Momo at?), and maybe Crow dad got the worse end of the stick, which is why Rei's powers are different?

It's just all coming out of left field though. Sure it's keeping the trend of things happening too fast, I can't help but think that maybe they have been showing us something all this time. Like, Shujou grandma, she has similar hair and eye color to Rei I sure would like to see ep 05 right now

I hope that, if we ever see a souped-up version of Akane's boomerang weapon, it'll multiply itself for an attack reminiscent of Gurren Lagann's Giga Dril Breaker. Because how could that not be awesome?

1) I wouldn't count fanart to mean much, and 2) the fusions looking older makes sense, considering Gotenks. I guess you're not being serious there, but eh, anime logic.

Why do I get the feeling that Akane's gonna get kissed normally by any of the other girls when Docking due to a slip-up? Then again, I don't think she would mind, considering how willing she was to kiss Aoi in Episode 2.

Possibly. We at least know that the security of the generator that was attacked was pretty much non-existant.
Akane placed Himawari right in front of the door leading to the generator. No guards, no security measures, o nothing. Just a simple door that isn't even locked, so Himawari has no problems getting inside and getting to a command console. No obstacles of any sort on the way as well. The command console doesn't have any security whatsoever as well, so she can simply change its programming without any problems to shut it down.
One should think that a generator that is of crucial importance for spreading around the engine's energy all around the world would have pretty steep security - heck, at the very least it should have any security *at all*

I'm sad to report that this week's episode didn't do much for me. Himawari's introduction made me cringe

Compared with the other two pairs Himawari and Akane feel like the weakest. The chemistry (for lack of a better word) between Akane and Wakaba was obvious from the moment they met. The spark between them was apparent so it was easy to accept their instant connection. Akane and Aoi were friends before the show even started so their connection goes without saying. We didn't need the backstory of their friendship, but we were given it anyway. The connections of both pairs were strong enough to be believable.

Himawari . . . I just didn't feel that there was anything linking Akane and Himawari. Other than a mutual abstract love for an inanimate, inorganic object, of course :/ I suppose it doesn't help that I thought her character was rather annoying.

The best part about this week? Learning that next week will focus on Rei! It's too much to hope that we'll get Rei and Vivid Green in the same episode but one can hope

I like how they keep changing the ending to fit the newest arrivals. While subtly changing the opening for the new arrivals as well. Very nice to see, and spot on. Rei's appearance in the next episode, especially with that pistol makes me excited.

I don't really like the changing ED's. Makes any of the songs less likely to actually grow on me.

Truedat. And, from what very few magical girl(-ish) shows I've seen, these girls look uh, underdeveloped. At least compared to say, Mai or Chris.

Well, for one thing, it's hard for me to get particularly attached to a song if it's just gone after playing once. And the duet aspect kinda hurts it, at least for the most recent episode. Hard to actually "feel" anything when the "chemistry" between those two hasn't been defined like, at all. I'd be alright with specific songs pfor each character or duo, if they weren't basically just throwaways.

Hm, maybe they'll reuse these songs based on which fusion is used in each ep? That would make them feel less like throwaways.

Also, Lucky Star made the "different ED per episode" thing work since those were just covers, so the songs don't need much (if any) significance to the characters anyway.

Don't think I can be taken seriously anymore... there is just many things to think about. Like, what is the operation time of a docked girl? Since they run on the Engine, that means I can date Vivid Green forever?

Exactly There was the talk earlier in this thread that, since grandpa specifically made the key for Akane, there might be something particularly special inside her that enables her to manufacture keys the way she does
