First, a completed GAU-8 is larger than a minivan (6.0 m)
And it's 380 kg empty, without engine or magazine
Gun + 1150 rounder Magazine is 1.83 tons, and still no engine.

I suggest you just use similar, albeit smaller, fictional weapon. My suggestion is 12.7 or 14.5mm, medium caliber rifle for I.S. (think 7,62mm NATO or 30-06 springfield in human terms), at full power, Charles' 54 caliber (13.7mm) rifle is more than enough to take anything short of golem, and only because it's semi-automatic. So a gatling with such caliber is overkill already.

I saw it and it really is overkill. I'll change it later for something a little smaller. The reason for a minigun is because the main character REALLY sucks at using guns... let's say that the stormtroopers have better aim that the guy has. At least with a minigun he could hit something.

Besides, canon statement already confirm that I.S. small arms is stronger than real life vulcan cannon to begin with. So a real life GAU-8 will be useless

Yeah, I think it's better to design some original equipment for the unit. on a side note, i did some calculations, and I realized that this project will have at least 20 chapters, each with 25 pages on MS word.

It's good to have a standardized chapter size. Some of us writers often got a migraine when a chapter is too short or long.

I use words rather than pages though, as the result, the number of dialogue may vary between chapters, despite roughly the same length.

1st POV is better if there's only two or three people involved in the scene, allowing deeper character exploration.

3rd POV is better when lots of people involved, also allowing unified narration and exposition.

There's merits and flaw, but this is what I felt so far.

Well, it's the inverse, Iori want a kinetic weapon that cna be as powerful as their beam counterpart. Particle beam can be strong and lacking recoil, but actual range is horrible. However, solely depend on explosive or magnetic power to propel a projectile has their limit.

So all the plus and minus on both types of weapon is combined, resulting in crazy powerful weapon with crazy long range and crazy recoil and crazy cooldown + reload time (~10 second total).

To explain why it has tremendous recoil too, Houki's Ugachi is not so much an energy cannon despite the appearance, but a linear accelerator firing tiny drop of molten metal fired at escape velocity (Think Reapers from mass effect).

Spoiler for Stygian Gospel: = Stygian Gospel = The Sytgian Gospel is an Infinite Stratos (IS) unit. Initially built in secrecy within the United States with collaboration from Israel, the initial unit Silver Gospel is soon captured by [::---Censored---::] where the frame is integrated with advanced weaponry and tech gathered from [::---Censored---::]. The Stygian Gospel’s life-force is the Infinite Stratos Core that manages the entirety of the unit. Power supply, data processing and overall management of the IS is done solely by the IS Core itself which also houses the IS previous AI program which has since been assimilated into a more powerful, intelligent [::---Censored---::]. The Stygian Gospel’s frame mostly resembles its predecessor’s safe for the jarring difference of having four massive variable wings on its back. Its head/helmet now has prominent twin green, eye-like visors with a solid face-plate as well as fins on both sides sporting “rabbit ear” configuration. Built with firepower, mobility and overall leap improvement over the predecessor, the Stygian Gospel sports better overall defense and much more nimble movement due to the variable wings on its back which can function as additional boosters for the unit, allowing it to achieve speeds up to Mach 4 with relative ease. In relation to its name, the Stygian Gospel sports an array of integrated weaponry in addition to its predecessors, which are also improved: = *Twin rail-guns. Of the four massive wings of the unit, two of them sport deep cannon muzzles similar to that of the Schwarzer Regen which fire large-caliber, electromagnetically-propelled solid slugs capable of knocking away even heavy-class IS, if not decimate them. = Four medium missiles. Like the ones mounted in a pair on the Blue Tears, two of the Stygian Gospel’s wings sport two medium cylindrical tube missiles on its underside, concealed from view as a means to execute a surprise attack like the Blue Tears. = Multiple gun muzzles* on top of its wings that when they’re swept up, the muzzles will face the unit’s front. Each of these muzzles fire small-caliber solid bullets in extreme rapid succession, serving as the ideal weapon for suppression fire. = *Twin massive blade bits* that can detach from two of the four wings on its back. Also is VERY heavy armored so it can withstand a lot of hits without moving an inch. Definitely a mighty glacier. Also, the machine is not an expy of the Alt Eisen, but a mix between it and the Heavy Arms. Spoiler for Shirokaze: XAF-024C WK Series MK-II Shirokaze -Operator: Ryouko Murakami -Country / Organization: Japan / Murakami Heavy Industries -Low Defense Stat -Low Energy Pool -Reactor Systems: Super Nova Drive (Prototype) -Very Light (68 kg) -High Speed -High Maneuverability -Long Range Unit -Weapons: • Hariken Launcher (3 modes: Energy beam, Bullets, Sniper Mode) • Machine Gun • Mini Beam Cannon (On the left arm) • Anti-Beam Shield (Attached to the Left Arm) • Beam Saber (Stored in the Shield) -------------------------------------- It translates as White Wind in Japanese. In universe this machine is fast, at the same level of Akatsubaki. Plus the pilot has customized completely every aspect of the unit, even the smallest ones. The pilot is also very skilled and she can use the machine to its fullest. The only downside is that the unit has a very low energy pool even for a long range unit, and it can be disabled in no more than 4 attacks. A mix between a glass cannon & a fragile speedster (more of the second). The machine was made to test two new technologies, one of them is the black hole engine (which origins is almost the same as in SRW OG), but why third generation? Is because it took 10 years to improve the technology to small scale. The unit is pretty normal performance wise, and it was made in order to perform any role that was needed on the moment. Madoka's version is a full sized, hip-fired musket, while Ichika's a much less powerful, one-handed carbine. Both use a caseless cartridge that fired not by normal spark/primer, but a small particle beam, coupled with magnetic shielding inside the chamber and barrel, this will accelerate the bullet to incredible velocity since plasma expansion > gas expansion (Gas expansion limit the bullet speed < Mach 6). Madoka's rifle accelerate the shell to Mach 21, while Ichika's set to Mach 13. In terms of punching power, Madoka's musket is slightly weaker than Houki's Ugachi, while Ichika's almost the same as Laura's Rail gun set at full power. Both are single shot (although the reloading process is automatic, the I.S.es generate the bullet inside chamber) and the recoil is crazy, they need to brace to the ground when they need to hit something more than a kilometer away.
