Ooooh, I knew a child who wore a Naruto headband every day and drew Naruto all over his tests and homework.

My only beef with some of the so-called "wapanese" is how their love for anime and JRPGs made them love Japan unconditionally to the point of allying themselves with Japan's fringe far right. You know, people like Ishihara, Hashimoto and their Uyoku-Dantai cronies? Taking sides with a tunnel vision on political matters they know nothing of in terms of their true depth and complexity.

As someone here mentioned earlier I am refering to a particular type of "anime-fans" commonly seen on the likes of Sankaku Complex and 4chan. Sankaku is especially worrying though, those guys have potential for violence, judging from their comments.
Which self loving otaku would support Japan's far-right that treats otaku industry as the no 1 evil?

Sorry maybe it was a blurry explaination on my part. While fans may be on opposing sides with the far right when it comes to anime, they seem to be on the same page when it comes their hatred of anything chinese, korean, burakumin, etc. etc.... The infamous youtube case of Miku Hatsune singing in Korean(?) and the flaming comments that follow comes to mind.

The radical/militant "Japanophile" types you see on Sankaku, 4chan, JapanToday and occasionally on youtube are wholly against anime, JPOP, games, Japanese food, J-culture being enjoyed by Chinese and Koreans.

While the radical fans I mentioned probably won't like Ishihara for what he is doing to the anime industry, but somehow on the same page on views of race and eugenics that Ishihara is known for saying publicly.

I think it was either her singing in Mandarin, or general outrage at the release of a Korean singing vocaloid, SeeU.

^That statement is wrong. Politics and corporate parties breed real shits, not Futaba, 2 or 4chan.

Both are just a collection of general anger and outrage at how society functions and the general reaction against it - all rolled into one board.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Agree, the boards don't breed bad people. They just breed/expose the shit within the bad people by giving them a place to gripe anonymously.

An unsolvable side effect, if you will. I'm not against the existence of chans (Futaba and 4chan, I have little experience with how bad 2chan may be so won't talk about that), and I know they can also be some great sources for happiness. I just have to epic face palm every time I see some reports on racism, sexism, xenophobia, pro-piracy* etc. coming from what are known as some of the deepest shitholes on the Internet (at least certain parts of them, like /b/).

And when I say shit, I don't mean legitimate concerns like politics. I mean things like the racism sezen alluded to, stuff that you would never tell to anyone in real life if you don't want to be cornered in a dark alley soon. Well, most people anyway.

*pro-piracy as in, "I can download anything I want for free and guess what? I'm entitled to it! So copyright holders should treat me just like a paying customer!"

Meh...same thing with Korea and their virulent anti Japan sentiments when it comes to pop-culture...see that Gangnam Style sour grapes comment after it was found Japan wasn't receptive to it. That's what you get when you have pop-cultre war between both sides

Hah, I knew people like this in middle school that did this. Hell, I knew a girl in high school that did that!

It's funny that I'm remembering this, considering I started watching Chuunibyou yesterday.

I know for sure this group of boys that had chuuichibyou, they would play Pokemon. And by play, I mean act out the actual Pokemon themselves, shouts and attacks and everything. And take turns being trainers sometimes, collecting badges and stuff. No video games or trading cards. They were the Pokemon.

It's cute now that I think back to it.

How old were those boys? If it's just kindergarten or grade-schooler's role plays, then it's not really chuunibyou.

7th grade.

Probably trying to come to terms of growing up and losing their youth, in this case Pokemon.
