Website updated today. The Tamako Market novel will contain 11 stories not told in the anime version. It will be written by Mutsuki Ichinose (under the guidance of series composer Reiko Yoshida) and illustrations will be drawn by Yukiko Horiguchi (character designer). Still on target to be released in April.

To provide some context...
These are the "Cursed" forms of Tamako, Midori, Kanna, and Shiori (production material). It's the middle of summer and the Usagiyama Shopping District is packed with people....or it should be. A sinister omen is sending people into panic. This is just saying what I posted earlier. And these are two of the store exclusive boxes to hold all 6 BD/DVD volumes. The top one is from HMV and the bottom one is from Tsutaya. You must purchase all 6 volumes at those particular stores (and at Animate/Gamers, who haven't revealed their images yet) in order to get them.

So are the pink outfits the girls' actual summer uniforms? That's very different. I don't think I've seen an anime school with such a significant difference between winter and summer uniforms.
Coffee shop guy putting on creepy music was hilarious. He always knows how to set the mood perfectly. "Attention everyone. Tama-chan needs cardboard boxes and other materials for her plan." *scene cut. Massive stack of cardboard boxes is placed in front of Tamako* "Will this be enough?" She really is the darling of the district, isn't she? "The bird's screaming was the scariest part." Oh I love Shiori. Kanna is... calculating. Impressive. Arg. I was hoping for the girl to show up and have some significance this week, but it looks like we need to wait one more. Looks like the poor kid is a bit overwhelmed by the attention from the district people. Dera needs to check his messages more often.

Never have I loved a supporting cast in anime as much as I do this one! I really love how everyone in the district looks out for Tamako.
Part of Tamako's charm is how much she cares for both the shopping district and the people around her. It's no wonder the people around her take care of her. |

Well, what can I say? It was an enjoyable episode as usual, even if it didn't have the usual emotional depth to it. I guess the fact that I found it genuinely funny helped.
What I'd call this episode, though, is KyoAni showing off. This is pretty much their way of saying that they can do horror well if they ever wanted to, and there's nothing wrong with that. I happen to find those few horror-ish scenes throughout the episode very well-crafted. I'm of two thoughts about expanding Dera's backstory though. For me, he's just this random talking bird serving as a bridge across different characters. Given a light-hearted show like this, this doesn't need much justification, especially if it involves adding even more off-the-wall elements. It's been foreshadowed for a while, I guess, but I can't help but be a little wary. Let's just wait and see then?

I was disappointed in the lack of Mochizou in this episode, but I did enjoy the haunted house aspect (and at least he was shown in the preview).
Tamako is actually a pretty shrewd business woman already. I am impressed.
