I just found out yesterday that my fiance has trouble telling them apart too. He was rambling about Mimori having been important from the beginning and I was like "She didn't show up until episode 4" and he said "Wasn't she the one working on the machines in the first episode?"

So yeah, the change in hair style is probably a good thing for people who had trouble with that. It is cute and interesting too with the little skirt (it looks more fitting to the style).

Yeah, I have to say once they decided to really give Mimori this kind of prominence a hairstyle change was necessary. Not that I ever couldn't tell her or Orine apart, but frankly they were too similar visually. Though Mimori did make the long hair thing work pretty well .

Oh sign me up as another fan of Mariko's look, normally short hair isn't my thing but for some reason it makes her look more confident and mature which goes well with her being a successor now.

hmmm would that mean If or when Nagisa becomes Acchan 14th,she will don braids just like how the real Acchan did before? wonder how that would look.

oh now that i think about it, I wouldn't like Chieri to be Acchan 14th, because she might have to cut her nice long hair...

and if someone becomes the new Miichan do they have to shave their heads too

HERESY!

Folks couldn't tell Orine and Mimori apart? Sadness.

It's interesting to wonder the possibilities of the girls changing after they become successors. Things like long haired girls cutting their hair, short haired ones letting theirs grown (although that would be a change that will take time), changing in hair style (for instance, Yuuka and Makoto letting their hair loose), etc.

Chances are Akimoto is the top guy in AKS anyway.

The Wikipedia entry for AKS Co., Ltd. redirects to the main AKB48 page.

You'll notice at the top of the AKB48 page a rather surprising link to the designer drug AKB48, a synthetic cannabis that was discovered in Japan last year during testing of "illegal products." It was banned by the Government later in the year. I can't find any explanation for the name in the Wiki article. Neither of the linked scientific abstracts mentions "akb" at all, and the name of the compound itself has no k's or b's.

Honestly it is sufficient to have the same haircut eg Achan for his succeseur so much that it will be the Nagisa succeseur of Achan No. 14

In short, I wonder who finally will Mimori successor

Officially announced, yes. Who knows how long Akimoto has known of Kasai's impending departure, prior to it? It is very easily possible that he knew prior to the planning of the second season, and slipped a note to Satelight to make the aforementioned changes.

To be fair, it is also equally possible it's just another stunt pulled by Kawamori, the King of All Trolls.

So also with anything else I wouldn't go assuming that anything is being messed with by Akimoto. Animation takes a while to get done and these scenes we're seeing now were probably produced a month or more ago, well before Minegishi's scandal.
Once again, time gap; who knows how long Akimoto has known of it? Granted, I'm quite a bit less sure about how much time Kawamori and Okada might have had to come up with a workaround here.

So Mimorin succeed Shinoda Mariko's name and cut her hair short. I like her new hair style.
They even brought up Takamina and Kanata's unfinished question in this episode. The interaction between both of them is tense enough this episode.
And i know Mii-chan has hidden agenda, but didn't expect her to be a Sono Papa spy. Haiz, Mii-chan, what have you done?!!!

I keep fearing that someone from the team will meet a tragic end. My fear is either Tsubasa or Takamina. (hopefully my prediction didnt come true.)

Satelite finished working on Next Stage since end of last year, so it's more of a coincidence that some real-life incidents just dovetailed with certain events in the show, and I believe there's no behind-closed-doors conspiracy/intrigue involved whatsoever.

So remember the disclaimer: All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

After this is an anime about AKB ok ... but it is an "anime" not a real documentary kind miss it more than his example that he set in anime the famous "scandal" one of which was AKB shaved head or other things ...

From Thomas Romain's Twitter. They had to finish the whole project fast -- including the voice work -- before vacation time around New Year.

From the French guy who works for Satelite. IIRC he says they're already working on the different series.
