I really hope Raishin undergoes some kind of character growth. Almost everyone else has; he's the one who desperately needs it at this point.

New type of spirit magic? This far into the story, it feels like an ass pull, particularly since there wasn't anything in the previous volumes hinting towards something like that. Maybe the onmyoujis in Vol 8 were supposed to be the precursor to that, but it still feels like the timing is just way too convenient. I'm not really a big fan of the whole superpower out of nowhere shounen trope.

Also, this might be a Vol 10 thing, but I don't like how the author is pushing

together. It's a bad case of pairing the spares, it feels rushed and enforced and out of Loki's character.

Little dissapointed that Raishin passed out, but I don't know if I can consider it his complete loss because Yaya was still on her feet. Battle wasnt entirely over.

^ Yes, she is. She also has quite the criminal mind as she planned on "attacking" Raishin while he couldn't move.
And then later planning on beating or killling him for his unfaithfulness(not really) to her.

Hi, I just start following this series through the manga, and one point got me interested: Has it been revealed who is the last ranked of the students in the school?
Since the MC is the second last, it makes sense to think that the author probably has some plan in mind for the last-ranked guy (or girl).

Raishin acknowledge the various factions: he knows all of them have their own agenda - including the magician association's desire of knowledge. I am surprised when Raishin lied to Kimberley about not knowing anything about the whereabouts of Charlotte's father. He is also having regrets of not being able to save Sigmund. While there is nothing he can do about his family's massacre, he had the option to surrender during the duel to save him. This may be a slight hint to growth and sense of independence: through his friends he obtain the power to start walking his own path. // The author also introduces a new type of magic: spirit magic (magic granted via elemental spirits). Even though his master said he cannot learn it at the start of vol10 (I took a sneak peek). vol 9 seem to imply otherwise but Raishin has other ways to counter it: potential for future powerups for when Raishin returns home?

Its one way to explain how the beams of light can be controlled - and I recall Elaine Below (appear in previous volumes) being known for something along those lines. Not a fan of this whole Loki and Henrietta thing esp when the latter has barely any actual screen time. Guess author doesn't want to have two sisters fighting over the same guy when there are already an overwhelming amount of candidates. He should just have gone to the dark side and go for his sister instead. Afterall the siblings share similar hair color of a popular incestuous eroge/anime....

I can’t really remember so many names, so can I just call them RaRiRuReRo?” Frey had a troubled expression on her face, then went “Uu… more importantly” to change the subject. She thrust out the basket she was carrying. “Here, I made lunch. They’re sandwiches.” Raishin was hit by déjà vu at this sight. However, the Frey now was friendly. It probably wasn’t a trap. “Oh, then I accept this and I will gratefully ea-“ As he reached out for it, Yaya suddenly snatched it away. Her pupils were like black holes, and she spoke in a monotone. “Allow Yaya to taste this for poison first. Thereafter, Yaya will feed Raishin mouth-to-mouth.” “I refuse. However, I guess you can taste-test it for me first.” “How cruel, Raishin…! You’re only using Yaya when it’s convenient for you…!” While wailing things along the same theme, Yaya stuffed her cheeks with the sandwich. Almost immediately, Yaya’s face turned a different colour, and she started coughing. “Are you ok!? Hey, what did you put inside!?” “Uu… a love potion- But I couldn’t get any, so I added in a lot of rum.” “… Alcohol?” “If you got really drunk, then the influence of the alcohol might cause you to have an error in judgement, which would cause a misunderstanding to happen…” “The only thing that’s erroneous here is what’s going on inside your head, ok?
