I hope the HD redubs the game considering the actors improved a lot in Dissidia.
i am just hoping they rls the japanese sound track.

The Japanese cast is pretty good. Tidus acts a bit angry in comparison to Taylor. Yuna and Lulu are emotive. Wakka doesn't have an accent while Auron isn't so stoic.

really? I thought the chocobo race was pretty easy. I got Tidus' sigil within a few tries
dodging 200 lightning bolts on the other hand... *shivers*

Lightning Bolt was more tedious than hard, and there were a few spots and tricks that could make it somewhat easier. The chocobo on the other hand is very random with very erratic controls. I really think you just got extremely lucky to have cleared the Chocobo in a few tries.

My friend did that when he recorded a 00:00:01 time or something to that effect (hint: that '1' isn't in second )

The issue is that it is random. You can try for dozens of times with perfect runs and still fail.

You think it was easy because you got it early, but good luck getting it a second time. The issue is that there is no trick to it; you could only pray that you got lucky. And luck based on top of skill based is simply too excessive.

If they had at least kept the balloons and birds at fixed locations, we could keep practising until we get it right. To randomise it is just trying to torture the player.

He would feel even worse if he got 00:00:00 exactly and STILL didn't get the sigil. They don't tell you, but you actually had to reach NEGATIVE time to get the sigil, not to only reach zero seconds.

I didn't say it was hard. Tedious, very.
it was really frustrating. I remember... I think I had 150+ dodges, only to get hit by the next lightining simply because I sneezed. I forgot to hit the pause button and had to do it all over again. I think it took me at least 2 hours to get it. 2 hours without encounters
I remeber I got tired with Thunder Plains' theme then lol

oh and there was this one time, when I was dodging lightning and I accidentally talked to the guy that summons Dark Ixion. Boy, that was such a bad run.

ah yeah, I still remember that run fairly well. Balloons were almost in a single line and whenever a bird is coming and I go sideways, there was a balloon to cope up the time I wasted for dodging. So yeah, you guys could say I was pretty lucky then

EDIT:
speaking about mini-games. I remember that jump rope mini game on IX. getting 1000 jumps is hard
and that chocobo hunting thing, searching for Zidane's Ultima Weapon was pretty frustrating too

good times

A modern FF would only be different in having a far tighter leveling curve tied to a far more robust plot than the typical MMO.
Modern graphics on a PC is quite a different (and easier) task than modern graphics on a HD console.

If a studio decided they had to cut down on gameplay to give more resources to the graphics department, it is time to re-evaluate their priorities.

There was a time when FF was about an occasional pretty cut-scene. And the rest is gameplay that was more graphically crude but fun. And since you spend most of the game playing rather than watching cutscenes, I say that's the way it should be.

This is why they can't remake FF7; they couldn't go back to the old philosophy.

I always found the chocobo racing to be frustrating but not overly difficult once you got a hang of it and know what to look for. I regularly get it done on my first 10 tries. The lightning was the difficult one. I could have the exact timing down and it was still a very difficult time with it. With the chocobo you have a short race while the lightning is time consuming and a tiny mistake would make you start all over again. I hope they change the amount that is required for the lightning dodge.

Then there's the thunder and forest minigames. I don't which quest is more frustrating. However, it's kind of fair since when obtaining the Ultimate Weapons the Final Aeon can be defeated in two strikes (That's what happened with me)

Pretty much this. They're trapped in their ways now.

Final Aeon? You mean Jecht? How about the Dark Aeons? Have you fought them?

That kind of reminded me that I still couldn't beat Penance without relying on Yojimbo. I got bored halfway of rewriting the sphere grid so I only got to 50k hp with none of the stats hitting 255.

Basically, speed running through the forest without touching the butteflies.
The camera angles make everthing harder lol
