Besides, it's not that different from the original series with Amuro and Lalah.

Good for you. Many people remember the character more as the unlikely hero in T2.

Lol just so you know "Mahdi" is an actual Arabic word which literally means "Messiah". Obviously Frank Herbert borrowed many words and references for his Dune novels, considering the similarities in themes and setting.

ANOTHER YEAR!? WHY!? I.... Gah!
Seriously though, is this because the episode will have extended work on it or because Bandai is trying to milk this to no end? I really am wondering. At least episode 6 gets released tomorrow.

Full Frontal was actually referring to Loni's father who was named Mahdi. He was killed for being a Neo Zeon sympathiser, which was the driving force behind Loni wanting to take revenge on the Federation. Whereas in the novels he was the one piloting the Shamblo, wreaking havoc and Loni died trying to stop him. |

Storywise, the OVAs do a reasonable job (even if they don't follow the novels totally), but for me, the animation and sound production blows me out of the water every time. I heard somewhere that the finale will be longer, but I can't quite recall what the length is, if the length was even made known at all.
