We were talking about FMP Another. .....More or less same diff. I'm having a hard time getting into it... Don't care as much about the story, not so emotionally invested in the main characters, and the old characters that came back have had their personalities butchered, so....

Meh.

Sure, but they stripped everything from Kurz that made him three dimensional, and turned him into nothing more than the completely stereotypical, run of the mill, flirty sniper with nothing else going for him. I get so very bored with that character type, they're EVERYWHERE, but Kurz actually had some depth to him that I enjoyed, and it's gone. He was never one of my favorite characters because he's such a stereotype, but at least I could like him for other reasons. Not the case in FMP Another.

You know, I actually have no problem with what happened to Kurz because I knew he wasn't built to last. Let's face it, his character ark was brief and there is nothing else he could actually do in the new story but be a stereotype. That's why I think he should have died in Yansk. That would make him go as a complete and badass character he was at that point.
When he turned out to be alive I was not that triumphant. Actually, I was like "Really?"

FMPAnother, as far as I know and has been said in the past, is planned out by Gatoh even though he's not the one writing it. So, unfortunately, I believe that yes, he does have quite a bit of say, which makes it all the sadder... And the worst thing, in my mind, is that the character butchering seems to be done in the name of comedy, when it's far from amusing.

Honestly, MisterBaka, I agree. It would have been a far more compelling story, too, if he HAD died. It was a bit of a cop-out, really, and just added to the rather long list of people-who-should-have-died-but-didn't in the series... One of FMP's biggest faults...

Are there any summaries for "Another" at all?

Also, just re-read all the FMP novels. They are better than I remember them. The only issues is that they do seem to drag on a bit in CMMD and ANOT, but BOMF and the finale were really good.

What is the "Full Metal Panic: Sigma" LN series? I was in Kinokuniya and was surprised to see a LN with Chidori on the cover sitting on the "New Releases" table (link to it on amazon.co.jp)... The titles of this series are familiar but do not correspond with the numbers of the original run of the novels... and considering the release dates have all been 2012/2013 I am thoroughly confused by this...

Are they a re-publishing of only the "plot" novels, or are they rewritten somehow? I don't *think* it was a manga since they were LN sized and in the LN section...

We goes back to the country in the first episode of TSR. 2. Under DOMS' new leadership, Tatsuya takes up the job as the rear guard against the guerilla, and once they start to move some important resources they come under attack. Tatsuya, who jusrt can't attack humans directly, comes under pinch. 3. Mikhailov and the two Sanjos arrive in, of all things, M9A2 "Gernsback Enhanced" WITH XL-2 BOOSTERS. The trio then curbstomp the guerillas with ease. In the end, these "important stuff" are just decoys to lure out the guerillas. 4. Mikhailov then announces himself as the new leader of DOMS, with obvious disagreement from Adelina. Kikuno seems to be "happy" about this. Chapter 2 Spoiler: 1. Back to Tokyo. Having resigned from DOMS, Tatsuya's life turns chaotic just like any retired soldiers. People around are caring about him, but the situation doesn't seem to be any better. 2. Now under Mikhailov's leadership, both Blaze Ravens are transported to somewhere else. Some related Japanese officials (I didn't recognize their name, it's probably because I didn't read the books) aren't amused, and decided to take them back by force. 3. And who's behind all these? GEOTRON ELECTRONICS, THE COMPANY INVENTED M9. Ho boy. 4. Did I mention Kurz went apeshit after Mao got hospitalized? Well, he shot Geofront agents who conducted the bomb attack against Mao, and throw "Your master will be the next" to Mikhailov before leaving. Tell me that's not badass. 5. With Yusuf becomes the new sponsor (that's why you should befriend royalties), Adelina and the rest who left DOMS formed a new PMC, and their first job is to capture back both Ravens. 6. Adelina went to Tokyo and invited Tatsuya to join them, and he makes up his mind to leave, even that may cost him his life. Chapter 3 Spoiler: 1. Yucon Laborotry of Geotron, Alaska. The group commeced their operation of getting back Ravens and Katsuro Mizorogi (Ravens' designer). 2. If you watched Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, that's how it works - Tatsuya and Adelina as Gato, Yusuf and Samira as the Dom pilots, Clara and Hassan (on foot) as Xammels, and the pair successfully infiltrated in the complex. 3. Tatsuya was spotted by Kikuno, but in the end she lets him go------not before kissing him and saying that he's "her beloved one". Duh, this gal really acts like Gauron. 4. Having captured back the Ravens, the group start to evacuate, but they're under hot pursuit from Geotron's new AS Centuria. Without any choices at hand, Tatsuya finally ditches his no-killing policy and disables the Centuria with a point-black Shotcannon at the cockpit...... 5. ......Except the Centuria is unmanned. Not only that, its combat performance is very alike to that of Tatsuya. What's going on there? Epliogue Spoiler: Yusuf propared a camofluged-cargo-ship-to-assault-carrier "Shinbad" as their new PMC's base, and Clara will be leading it. (Seriously, what?) Then Katsuro mentions Geotrons target: Spoiler: "The thing picked up in Chofu 13 years ago." Suddenly, it looks more alike with the past books again. I'm starting to like the serious busniess.
