Yea, a villain that threatens...the food supply of a nation....feels kind of underwhelming. It's the downside of realism. Reminds me of 007 Quantum of Solace, which I hated for the same reason. I much prefered the classic megalomaniacal Bond villains.

Even though they explained how in this setting, destroying the food supply will almost certainly result in the collapse of the society...it's rather petty compared to the awesome and flashy plots of a true villain like the Joker.

Not sure how likely this scenario is, but I think Akane will capture Makishima and keep Kogami alive. However, she'll suggest to Makishima in secret that he destroy or reform the entire system from within, and hopefully this results in the collapse of the Sibyl System. How this would be pulled off without risking the lives of society is another problem altogether though...

She would probably convince him on the whole free will platform as well, get him to do things that she can't, even if her own Psycho-Pass won't fluctuate as a result of the whole endeavor.

Most likely if this goes off without a hitch, Akane will kill two birds with one stone:

1. Kogami alive
2. Sibyl System destroyed, along with Makishima (who will probably be aware doing this will get himself killed)

After watching the newest episode today, I'm going to predict the ending :

When the final two episodes were been settled, I'm going to expect a final showdown between Shinya, Akane and Shougo. Akane is trying to shoot Shinya with a Paralyzer while trying to apprehend Shougo, but something very bad happened when Shougo is trying to sacrifice himself by saving these two from danger, causing him to say last words before dieing. Then, Shinya is crying on how he feels on how the world see of him and how the Sibyl System betray him for being an Enforcer. After the showdown, Akane confronts Kasei to create a better vision of the Sibyl System, and she agreed by making her as a new assistant. The ending involves Shinya praying for Shougo's death, Ginoza finally reconciles Masaoka, Yayoi is still getting together with Shion while being unsure about her future, so is Akane. The Sibyl System is still imperfect despite getting a better treatment thanks to Akane, and the show concludes. That's what the ending will be like.

Akane asks Sybyl to lock the dominator into paralyze mode. They agree. Kogami arrives at the hyper oats field but has trouble getting through the security to Makishima. Division 1 arrives.
Akane tells the others that once Kogami's coefficient goes over 300 they should let her handle it. Some fucking with the electricity or something. Kogami gets in. Akane says they should team up. Akane and Yayoi go to the central control room to get Shogo. Gino and Masaoka go after Shinya. There's no one in the control room. Akane realizes it's Shogo's trap and that Gino and Masaoka are in trouble.

Scene changes to Gino and Masaoka in a container store house place. Masaoka tells Gino he supports letting Kogami escape. "You always have confidence in Kogami. You never rely on me at all!" Gino -> Masaoka. Masaoka calms him down. Masaoka realizes it's a trap and manages to get Gino out of the way in time. Gino gets his arm crushed by a container. Masaoka tries to help Gino but Shogo attacks him. Masaoka and Shogo fight. Masaoka gets him in a hold. Shogo whips out some dynamite. Masaoka thinks he's gonna blow himself up. Shogo laughs and says no. He throws the dynamite at Gino who's still crushed under the container. Gino tells Masaoka not to let Shogo get away. Masaoka doesn't listen. He lets Shogo go and goes to save Gino. He(goes after the dynamite?) makes it in time for the explosion. Gino rips off his crushed arms and rushes over to his dying dad. (talks about how the scene was good)

Shogo leaves and is shot at by Kogami. He saw the state Masaoka and Gino are in(?) and is super pissed at Shogo. Shogo laughs like a faggot. Some talking about about how Shogo is happy Kogami met his expectations by throwing away his imitation of justice and coming to kill him seriously. Shogo says things such as "blah blah blah society blah blah blah expectations blah blah", thus Kogami gets provoked by Shogo's bullshit. He sees Shogo in a mirror and shoots it by accident. Shogo flies out from the side and knocks Kogami's gun away. Kogami whips out a small knife instead. Ends with Akane rushing over to where Kogami and Shogo are.

Making a sad ending is good, but Psycho-Pass is not one of the shows I'd want a sad ending. The best case scenario for me is how Akane will capture Makishima alive, save Kogami's precious life but for some reason Makishima dies by saving both of them. Worst case scenario is when both Kogami and Makishima dies, letting Akane to live by herself. This kind of ending looks good by itself but god I dislike it when it happens like that.

I wonder if this series will get a sequel? I think the show will end with the Makishima plot resolved but I doubt they will overthrow the Sybil System or change anything about it

I'm skeptical about it, but I would be surprised if they even make another anime of Psycho-Pass, such a sequel or a prequel show to a lesser extent.

whatever the ending is I absolutely DO NOT WANT it like GC's ending! It is so unclear, sorry I'm not a total hater of GC but the ending let me down. Please Urobuchi I have faith in you, if you want to kill off all my fav characters (including akane) then please do it as awesome as possible..

I can't think of any happy ending to this anime. A pity for the ones who liked Akane X Kogami. My guess is that Akane will end with the Sybil probably as the only head of the organization since she wants free will to the group and Sybil came to find Akane useful. I don't know what could happen with Kogami, but I think Makishima could think about suicide if he can't destroy the system.

If I suddenly realized that Kogami is still alive by the final episode, maybe I'll die happy, and even better if he gets together with Akane if both of them are still alive as well. As far Akane goes, maybe she either confronts Kasei to better find a treatment towards the Sibyl System by fixing mistakes so that people will get a good grasp of it, or will probably end the system permanently (though I don't know what will happen to the population after that). Lastly for Shougo, I can think of some possibilities :
- He will save the world by making Sibyl System falling in the dark, but later sacrifies himself in front of Shinya and Akane.
- Japan's economics keep falling over, and Sibyl System seemed so terrorized that Shougo will fail and he has no choice but kill himself.
- Kasei appears in front of the final showdown between Shinya and Shougo, but something terrible tried to kill Kasei. However for weird reasons, Makishima saves her but gets killed off.

It's a self-contained story, they'd have to do a major asspull to make a sequel. Not saying it can't happen but I'd be disappointed if it did.

Figured it'd be either him or Yayoi who'd be the next to go. Though at this point, I don't see Yayoi surviving either.

As for whatever the last episode might be:

Akane/Shogo/Ko have it, similar to what's shown in the OP.

Yayoi is killed in battle.

Akane loses her shit in a sacrifice to save Ko.
