That and thoses cases of teenagers than endded up being condemned for sending naked picture of themself to other teens.

Yes, it's been that stupid in some parts of the US. The "trading child porn" to each other (<21 yr olds trading pics) is my poster child example though.

It shows exactly how the word "children" is being mangled by zealots to mean 17, 18, ... even 20 year olds. The tragedy is that it undercuts actual crimes committed against prepubescents as badly as the "let's pretend drawings on paper are real people" bullshit.

An interesting read on China's underdeveloped foreign policy. The fact that neither of the two highest-ranking officials with foreign policy portfolios are members of the Politburo is especially instructive.

Isn't that a good thing? Most "diplomats" are tried to be the best liars ever. Isn't it better for everyone else to have a "honest" speaker on the post?

The definition of child porn has been stretched too. It used to be guys who paste adult woman/child body and vice versa to skirt the law or actually use an real girl/boy for vile purposes that deserve rightful wrath, but someone told me the law has been stretched enough that a hentai pic of a less than 18 years old can count as "illicit material"

So does this mean this entire board can be sent to jail and registered as sex offenders for seeing hentai somewhere? Thankfully, there are enough real child porn criminals floating around for them to be busy. But god help us all if prosecutors have a slow day month and in need of a scalp.

A Sterling teenager was shot and killed after he apparently entered a home thinking it was his own and was mistaken for a burglar or home invader. Police said Caleb Gordley, 16, had been drinking and entered a neighbor’s home through a back window.

Murderer flips off victim family in court

http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/loc...-triple-murder

This piece of trash is a shining example of why the death sentence is needed, and it's a travesty that we now have to feed and cloth him for the rest of his life, instead of dragging him out the back and put a bullet or ten in his head.

I don't know, what kind of ''treatement'' would he get from the other inmates if he is left without protection, he might end up killed by another inmate faster than if he would had been if comdemned to the death sentence.

Provided that his cellmate's cock is the size of an AT4. Otherwise he is just going to suffer for as long as he is in there.

Problem is, going after the real offenders takes work. Prosecutors who are lazy will go after easier fruit on the tree (like these teens, or the "all females look underage to anyone unfamiliar with Asian manga or Asian women for that matter" manga readers

Granted, I don't think anyone bother to arrest people watching hentai yet.

No, not if they have to investigate you first.
That would be work.
However, if you present them an easy case, like say carry said hentai in your luggage, or on your laptop during a border inspection, they will not let this chance slip.
We had some examples there already... should even be in this thread somewhere.

Ugh, that's just horrific to hear... So he is one of those psychos who gets off sexually from killing? What a horrible, horrible thing to say to the grieving families.

The Handley case (which isn't a great example but he really only had drawings of loli-hentai and he copped a plea to avoid going to trial and fighting it (which the rest of us wish he would have but it is easy to see his dilemma sitting in Iowa and not, say, in Los Angeles).

Agreed. There are times (such as this time) when someone is so full of himself about committing such crimes and shows no form of remorse at all, I believe the psycho has to be shot to death instead of being fed by taxpayers' money. And to add insult to injury, the bill showing how much the bullets spent on him cost would be sent to the A-hole's family.

To send the bullet's bill to his family is kind of overkill, no? It's that moron than did the crime, not his family.

Supreme Court upholds First Sale doctrine

In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court said "yes, you can resell what you buy from overseas markets in America and not infringe on copyright."

Somehow, I'm not surprised that Copyright Apologists are already trying to spin it so that they're the victim.

It's always interesting to see how the Court aligns on issues like this one. In this case, Breyer wrote the decision and Ginsberg wrote the dissent. She was joined by Scalia and Kennedy, hardly her usual allies. Kennedy is usually depicted as the "median Justice" on most traditional left-right votes. He was decisive on Citizens United and may also be the swing vote when the Defense of Marriage Act comes up later this term. Thomas is usually attached at the hip to Scalia but voted in favor of the doctrine in this case.

While a unidimensional model of political conflict explains a lot about American politics, there are some issues that do not fit that model and create unusual alignments like this one.
