The larger question (aside of how or if they will win in Episode 12) is will there be more? With Miho's backstory in Little Army, I think there is a good setup for an International tournament.

I'm not sure about effective armor and firepower, but the KV-4 and KV-5 are at least in the same weight range.

The KV-4 and KV-5 were never built

Indeed.

Spoiler for size restriction:

Someone started naming these carriers, but clearly there are a few unidentified.

Interesting, Pravda looks to be middle sized in terms of its carrier, and actually the 2nd smallest school (even smaller than Oarai) there if you extrapolate from inhabited surface area (first is that sub like thing on the top right corner) - what might it be, one of those joke schools like "Waffle" and "Yoghurt"?

BTW, when I saw Pravda's nearly empty flightdeck in Ep8, I always suspected that if Oarai does get forced into agglomeration, it'll be packed into Pravda's "Kiev". The flightdeck portion is nearly the perfect size and this picture again proves it.

oh what no mako too hmmp
oooh interesting pic with the carriers, maybe that thin ship is ANZIO ?
it's not even a carrier-type ship, but from the size of the others that still a lot bigger than any ship we have today.

I guess there is no one that doesn't know this, but...

Spoiler for Saki is:

If it is Anzio, well, they are taking the "let's poke Italy" shtick a little far. They do have a carrier design.

On the left is the Aquila (italian) carrier, probably for Anzio; on the right side there is a submarine I-400 class (japanese) and an Akagi (japanese) carrier in her original configuration with three flight decks .

The carrier on the upper center I'm not sure but could be an Invincible (british) class carrier, or another modern carrier for V/STOL Harrier aircraft.

Until we see that OVA for ourselves, the names are still contested: I'm most curious to know where the original image came from (i.e. not from Photobucket) and who made it.

Here is the ships all identified. But this is just by eye and of course not official. (There is a live discussion on if the Invincible might by the Hyuga instead.)
Spoiler for size:

Who made the identifications? People on 4chan. Specifically, people from /k/ where they know that kind of stuff. The pics came from Japanese blogs.

Those people (both those on /k/ and who host/contribute to Japanese blogs) have too much time on their hands. At any rate, I think the real fun will be watching OVA 3 shortly

One thing I'm curious about - how sure are they that Saunders is the USS George Washington? Afterall, it's an angled flight deck, and the US has been using that same design since the Forrestral-class carriers. (And technically that should be a Kitty Hawk-class carrier.)

I doubt it's the Invincible, as I don't see a jump-ramp. Then again, I'm terrible with modern ship identifications. They're all so generic looking, kind of like the cars of today, with some exceptions.

One the plus side, I was correct that the Oarai Adacemy ship was a Shokaku class carrier.

Also, I believe that carrier is based on the Shōkaku.

Shape of the angled end of the waist. Kitty Hawk has a relatively irregular shape when compared to the George Washington.

As for why it's the USS George Washington out of the Nimitz class: Because it's the United States Seventh Fleet, the one stationed in Yokosuka.
