You guys are going way off topic with this "what defines anime" thing. If you want to discuss this further, please use the other thread (already linked above) instead.

Oh my god, I used to live in a middle east country for almost my whole childhood. And this was a really funny feeling to me because it felt I was watching a cartoon on MBC3 again since forever! Somewhat nostalgic and weird to me. One thing's certain I will always think this as an Arabic cartoon that I watch without understanding anything.

p.s MBC3 is the only free channel where they show cartoons in arabic dub without any translations.

Yeah, for me, before MBC there were different channels, mostly in the gulf region, that aired dubbed shows, mostly old anime, yonkuro dash, candy candy, those were indeed the days

While this is a good first step it lacks any sort of originality. A mech anime set in Japan? Would have been at least better if it was set in Dubai. I mean Dubai could have been a great setting for a mech anime.

Y'know the irony? It probably would never be considered an "anime", if it were an "original". Using an existing genre to establish itself as anime, it's actually not bad for a first step. Once that "anime only from Japan" mold is gone, then various avenues of originality can be explored.

It's not bad, actually.

Favorite line was the purple-haired girl's "ARE YOU CRAZY?!"
There's also the lead guy's sudden change of clothes from traditional Middle Eastern to hot-blooded casual.

Still needs to have Japanese seiyuus (newcomers are fine too) to make it more authentic, if they have the budget that is...

I love the PV: the animation actually look fluid and much better than most anime these days even if the artwork feels a bit rough ocassionally, there's actually some tension going on when the main character go to Japan just for the sake of the world he have seen in mecha shows! The balance of Japanese and Arabic dubbing feels disjointed though, I think there's one Japanese seiyuu voicing one of the characters, it wasn't bad but it could have been done so much better.

In final words, I can't wait to watch it now but I also hoped the animation to be as consistent when the series will come out without being cancelled which is sadly the fate that most anime-imitating productions suffer (especially in amateur works).

"Space Thunder!"

Haha, sorry main character, when you said you thought mecha's were only in anime, i'm guessing you also thought that shouting the name of your attack would automatically make it work too eh?

Getting use to the voices and language. They're not bad, it's just after listening to Japanese for so long, well, you know It does look very entertaining though, this will definitely be on my watch list when it comes out

If these peeps weren't speaking Arabic, i'd swear this was off the production line of a Tokyo anime house.

I'll watch it if only for the novelty of hearing some HOT BLOODED HERO ATTACKS in Arabic! HaHa!

Question though, were there a lot of anime shown in Arabic historically? I mean I already know about Europe (except for the UK) and Latin America.

Indeed, as a kid they used to air lots of dubbed anime where I lived around the gulf countries. I wasn't into the mecha though (Grendizer/Mazinger,etc).
