That was... too... damn... manly!!! I feel 500% more GAR just from that short clip. Why isn't anime that manly anymore? WHY?!?

I'm a bit disconnected from anime these days. That is mostly attributed to my increasing lack of patience to wait and see if the show is going anywhere. If the show doesn't get my attention in the first ep or at most second ep. I drop it - and that is after I find the show by filtering through the rest of the stuff.

Shin Sekai Yori and Chihaya(s1 and s2) are the only new shows I have watched.

**and now I sound like a whining brat >_> Meh.

What? David Production's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure was not manly enough?

I swear we could pay off the euro debt if we get 5 euros each time someone say, "We don't have manly anime anymore these days" especially after last Fall.

The original Space Battleship Yamato was a 26 episode series in 1974 (down from teh 39 episodes planned).

When it returned for a second series in 1978 it was again a 26 episode series. This one planned for 26 episodes from the start.

IN 1980, its third series was planned for 52 episodes but was cut during production to 25 episodes.

For as long as osananajimi appears in relative frequency in anime, and they win over 50% of the time, I don't think I'll grow out of anime. Especially when practically every TV anime series gets subbed every cour; as a completionist, it's too hard to pass up looking for couples that fit my ship.

For someone who gives EVERY subbed TV series a 3 episode grace period, yes, I think I can call myself an anime fan. Probably the one thing I've not been doing much recently is keeping up with Anime movies/OVAs and such. That's why I refrain from calling myself an anime fanatic.

It was released this year. I think it's a bit too soon to ask how it aged

Oh I did a quick search and wikipedia linked to a show released in the 90's. My bad, that must have been something else.

You do realize I'm talking about the 2012 version and not the earlier movie and OVAs right?

edit: I see you answered just above me,I was just making the suggestion because of the other animes you listed.

Well I'm 36 and I still haven't grown out of it. In fact, with Crunchyroll, it's better than ever. I can watch simulcast anime and no ads. It's heaven!

Will You Still Watch and Enjoy Animes as You Grow Older?

I'd like to have this article from Crunchyroll be seen by everyone here.

After reading that article, I thought about the times I asked myself that same question.

I've been watching animes when Toonami was on during the late 1990s.

This past January, I've gotten bored with animes. The cause of it was watching the same kinds of anime trends from one season to the next. I've watch most of the anime genres that are out there, but that didn't really help much to cure my boredom. With that, I thought of taking a short break and watch something else.

Of all things to watch, I began to watch the NHL; the National Hockey League. After hearing that it came out of a lockout.

To make a long story short; after watching a few games, I began to watch and enjoy animes again.

I don't really know how to explain it, but it just happens.

Now, I'm watching both animes and the NHL. (Yes, the NHL's in the off-season right now and the next season won't be untill Oct. 1st 2013)

As for watching and enjoying animes as I grow older...

I'm 22 years old and I just can't see myself stop watching animes altogether as I age.

For those who live in the US; even though we have hit TV series like The Walking Dead, Homeland and Graceland to name some; I just love watching animes.

Other than the NHL, it's what I mainly watch. It's as simple as that.

In case if you're wondering on how I'm watching animes, it's through TV and Internet Streaming:

TV:
- Toonami
- Video on Demand

Internet Streaming:
- Official YouTube accounts
- Crunchyroll
- Official anime websites (ex. Funimation and Viz Media)
- Hulu (if necessary)

Now what about you guys? Will you guys still watch and enjoy animes as you grow older?

Yes I will, unless I like, stop watching stuff altogether. Maybe not because I absolutely love anime in general, but at least because I like having ways to kill time when I'm bored.

I probably won't quit watching anime altogether but, I have lost 99% of the zeal I had a few years back. I just can't bring myself to search through a ton of junk (in my eyes) that the industry throws out every season to find the one show I like. AS is the sole reason I saw Shin Sekai Yori and Chihayafuru last year. And, I noticed Shin Sekai Yori only because it got its own sub-forum and the discussions included some posters who had similar taste in anime.

The only show/OVA I'm currently watching is Ghost in the Shell : ARISE and that's because I love GitS : SAC. So, it was a safe bet. I have literally seen less than 10 shows in the past one and a half year, half of which were old shows like GTO, NANA etc. So, I'm as close to quitting as I will get in this lifetime
