Whoa, I missed this earlier:

If I may make a suggestion, how about linking all future YT videos through polsy instead? It eliminates the need to worry about being spoiled by those related vids, after all.

That being said, here's a "safer" link to the original game version of Leon's execution:

Decent episode, but hopefully future murder mysteries will feel a bit less anti-climatic and/or have less obvious clues.

Maizono clearly setup Naegi to take the fall, but given her desperate situation, I can understand why. At least she tried to leave a message before she died in order to protect Naegi (in her dying moments, I think that motivated her more than revenge on Leon did).

I have to feel a bit sorry for Leon. While he never had to kill Maizono, it's doubtful that he would have killed her if she hadn't tried to kill him. His case is really borderline self-defense... certainly he'd have some chance with such an argument in Florida at least. His execution was also both brutal and brutally ironic. Have to hand it to Monobear, as his dark humor is on par with The Joker!

It's interesting how Kirigiri has chosen to strike up a friendship/alliance with Naegi. If I was in this school, I would likewise be looking to strike up friendships/alliances simply to make myself less likely to be a murder target (and also to have somebody to have my back during a trial). Still, I hope that the anime explores exactly why Kirigiri has chosen Naegi to be her friend/ally. I hope it amounts to more than "just because he's the main character".

Suggestion considered. Going to edit the relevant posts (including your quoted part).
I wasn't worried as the thumbnails weren't obvious when I checked, but if someone missclick by accident, it will be a problem indeed.

I clicked on your thumbnails and was spoiled, take responsibility.
I actually didn't, I've just always wanted to tell someone to 'take responsibility.'

As for me, I thought this episode was great and enjoyed it enough to give it a 10. I'm easy. Though I do wish this was a two cour rather than a one, sigh. We're a quarter through the series, but it doesn't feel like we're a quarter through the story. I expect much rushing in the future. Either that or this is one of those stealth split cours.

This is also unthinkable due to the very high level of alert after such incident.
Its easier to lock her inside her own room and take her room key.

As for murder possibilities:
Monokuma actually gave both the girls as well as the boys weapons.
The boys got their tool kits which also contained a hammer.

The girls got the sewing kits, and... oh well we are past the point where naegi would have seen a sewing kit anyway:

All sewing kits come with a human pressure point diagramm, that in combination with the rule that it is not forbidden to sleep in another person's room strongly suggests Monokuma wanted the girls to kill the boys while they are alseep.

What everyone needs to understand is what Klashikari already explained a few pages earlier: Maizono had no idea at all that graduating would mean everyone else dies.
At that point she only knew she had to kill someone and as soon as she graduates everyone will find out Naegi didn't kill anyone.
Though I have to admit that there is some anime-cut dialogue where she staetd that she did horible things to reach her gioal of being an idol in the past

Leon is not even close to self defense.
Self defense ends the moment the threat is eliminated, and that moment was when Maizono got disarmed.
Leon however went all the way back to his room to get his tool kit so hee could break the lock.
So everything past her getting disarmed is far away from self defense.

Yeah i would have done some things differently too; for example inquired about the graduation rule s second part from start.
Not to mention keeping a close eye on maizono as it was obvious she went nuts after the video.
Also what everyone (maizono included) doesn't realize is that this is the Wolf and sheep game.
The best way to survive is always moving in groups of at least 3 peeople. that includes sharing the rooms.
Chances for 2 Wolfes 1 sheep are really low. chances for 2 sheep and 1 wol pretty high. As we know from the wolf and sheep game though a wolf can only strike if there are less sheep than wolves.

So basically graduation mean everyone except the killer died?

Then about the rule that no one must the murderer identity? Does it mean anyone know the killer identity must be silenced within 1 hour/1 day prior the the moment of discovery or until the trial is set? If it is the later then someone could just grab all the knife, go around and stab people until everyone die. Or better go chainsaw massacre inside court room.
Another situation is when there are only 3 people left. When 1 died, then the other would right away know the culprit. But if the killer stand outside the room of the last innocent player. Wouldnt that be a deadlock then wtf will happen?

This game rules is so vague with so many loop holes that beg for abuse.

Keep in mind that Monokuma wants everyone to play by his rule. If you try something crazy like going on a massacre everyone will just seek Monokuma's help and he will just drag the culprit away anyway. Don't forget how much power he has in his home turf.

As for the deadlock, well isn't it too early to even consider it anyway?

No. A student graduates when they commit a murder without being caught by the class trial vote. If the class trial holds the vote and the person they accuse is the wrong person, then the murderer graduates and lives while all the other students die.

Thems be the rules as they've been set out in these three episodes.

Uff More something for the Q&A thread tbh but its not really a spoiler so:

an inner courtyard, there is also one behind Naegi's room - His window is still plated.
Apparently its impossible to enter the courtyard from above so its either tank glass or its artificial light shining down during daytime - we never get an answer to that.

I certainly recognize Sayaka's desperate need to get out immediately and thus her reason to go so far. And I rather doubt that she'd have done so if she realized that getting out would require killing more than just one person. Still, I don't like just how well she deceived our hero; it takes a really cold heart to put on such a convincing act of fear and desperate reliance on someone you intend to frame for murder. I can only hopefully assume that she sincerely believed half of them would be able to get out, and that since all of them surely had similarly desperate motivation to get out fast, she'd only be briefly letting others think he did what he had to do and that once she got out she could help him or wait for him. And I'm fine believing this. Since she's gone, we have no way of knowing how she'd have taken the fuller knowledge. Who knows, upon finding out that everyone else would have to die for her to get out, she might have even broken down and revealed the truth on her own.

One thing that has me really curious is just what the intended purpose is for that sixteenth spot. There's no way it's as meaningless as Monokuma wants everyone to believe.

Well i kinda had a feeling Sayaka would be a good actor at one point, even before I started playing the game.
There is also a conversation with her where she tells Naegi how she did things she knew are wrong and terrible in order to fulfill her girlband dream.
Which is why I personally thought it was sad she was chosen as first victim, the reason for that is spoiler though so i'll stop here.

Been waiting eagerly to see this trial.
Sakura is that buff guy or is it a girl?!
I'm totally confused by that character.
The trial felt like a very detective like deduction.
It was certainly interesting to watch it.
Honestly, I never would have guessed the real killer.
Guess it's still to early to really know the characters well.

Her name is Kyouko Kirigiri. She is the Super Duper High School ???. Few can claim such skills.

Her hair color is debatable, since people can't seem to get it consistently. Her hair is supposed to be more along the lines of white, or a white with a pinkish hue, if you really want to push it.

just look at her appearance / outfit / anything and guess it by yourself.
Or you can just ask it in spoiler thread or even google it for faster answer

Good episode. 8/10. The trial went by a bit too quick for my liking though. They forgot to explain some things too, like how Kirigiri knew about Naegi's bathroom door. I know they showed a shot of Naegi and Kirigiri together in Naegi's room during the investigation (episode 2), but this could have been done better. They also didn't explain why Kuwata couldn't open the shutter, while Yamada was able to.

Kirigiri seems to be quite good at this. When I combine this with the facts that she seems to be unfazed by murders and that she's able to stay calm and collected during all this, it seems like she's got experience when it comes to solving crimes. Naegi seems to be quite good at this too once he gets his act together.

I have a feeling that she chose to get closer to Naegi for 3 reasons: Naegi's innocence, Naegi's potential and a common goal.

Kirigiri noticed Naegi's innocence. She probably thinks that he's not the kind of person to murder someone in order to help himself. This makes him a 'safe' partner. During the first trial she also noticed Naegi's potential. With some help from her in the beginning of the trial, he managed to solve the case quite easily in the end. After all, she said 'I expect great things from you.' to him after the trial. In other words, she thinks that he'll be useful to her. Lastly, Naegi blames Monokuma for everything instead of Maizono and Kuwata, so she's probably expecting him to fight against Monokuma's tricks/trials instead of murdering someone himself. This might be her own plan as well, since she told Naegi 'Don't do it now. If you really want to avenge her, that is.' when he was about to attack Monokuma. So she decided to cheer him up after the trial, because she wants him to move forward and help her to reach their common goal.

Now that I think about it, Super Duper High School Detective would be a bit too obvious. And why hide it?

Is she a Super Duper High School Serial Killer? Or a Super Duper High School Survivor who's already "graduated" from a class like that?
