They aren't real immigrants. In this case, what foreigners think of them is of minor concern when their actions will be celebrated as heroic in China. Last edited by maplehurry; 2014-01-20 at 21:00. |

And to think that all of this could have been avoided if Tokyo's mayor didn't kick a fuss about the islands a few years ago and lead an expedition there. Prior to that, everyone was pretending that the islands weren't a problem - which was admittedly not ideal, but at least things weren't heating up.

China Plans to Build 4 Aircraft Carriers:
"Chinese leaders plan on building four aircraft carriers for its navy, a Chinese official said in comments that have since been removed from a Chinese media site. Liaoning party chief Wang Min said the Chinese navy had started work on the country’s second aircraft carrier and had plans for four, according to the South China Morning Post. Earlier this year, Chinese officials explained the country’s need for more than two aircraft carriers." See: http://defensetech.org/2014/01/22/ch...raft-carriers/ |

I'd heard of that one before. They'd have the Russian built carrier, then two based on that design. Followed by two more that might be slightly larger, or more suited for Chinese needs than the Russian design.
The Japanese "Helicopter Destroyers" are not nearly as large or capable. But they already have some, and are working on a larger version. Those (if fitted with F-35s I suppose) combined with the South Korean assault ships could be enough to counter the Chinese carriers without having to shift extra American carriers to the region. The British will probably deploy one of their building Queen Elizabeth-class carriers to the region as well, perhaps detached to the Australians.

Have anyone think this dispute is the start of China to take back Taiwan? If it win, China would get three prizes: The island's resources, a show of muscle before Japan, Korea America, and to divert the world's attention away from it and Taiwan.

The Queen Elizabeth is scheduled for launch in July of this year. Suppose to be fitted out, and crewed by 2016. Ready for Royal Navy service in 2017. The Prince of Wales was to be cancelled, but the clause if the second ship wasn't built in the contract was more expensive than building it, so at this time it will also be built. Final word won't be until 2015.

Jokes aside, we can see how China's aggressively trying to build up its forces, but I think the advantage in any shooting war would go to Japan, who has more modern ships in quality and numbers than China (China has a large fleet yes, but doesn't have as many modern DDGs as Japan does). That's all academic however, because it will depend on which side the US comes down. China owns the US debt, but the US is a Japanese ally...

oh i agree, at this point Japan still have Air and naval superiority. Which is why i think anyone who thinks China will start a war with Japan is complete idiot. Anyone who starts a war with japan and lose it would be thrown out of office fast. The real danger is if someone f*ckup and accidentally start something neither side can backdown form.
