Um, another question. I'm going back to visit my relatives for the first time in about a decade and I'm kinda nervous as to how to go about greeting them. When I was 10 I could just run around doing whatever but now I feel like I need to be more...proper. I suppose it's still ok to hug older female relatives like my grandmother? At what age does it become inappropriate to do that? What to do then? What about the males, do I just greet them verbally or do handshakes or what? I don't think I should be too formal and they are Asian with the whole emphasis on family but I haven't seen them for so long and what if some of them suddenly have kids or something what kind of random small talk would be appropriate? Any help appreciated..

Dude. They're real family, and probably love you a whole lot. My grandmom might bitch slap me if I tried to shake her hand instead of hugging her. I would say, definitely give a hug to your grandmom. For other relatives the court is out, but come on, you're only being friendly to your FAMILY.

I didn't know there was any culture where it could ever become inappropriate for relatives to hug, especially after not having seen each other for a long time.

Just hug her dummy. And get something nice for her while you are at it.

I tried using the XDA Dolphin trick, but I still can't get Flash to work on Nexus 7.

Could I be doing something wrong?

I use Firefox and an old APK for the official flash player. You can get the flash player at xda.

Thanks! It works on Dolphin.

I guess the problem was the version of Flash I got somewhere else on XDA.

What will happen afterwards if the user gets banned from AS?

Depends on the case. Some bans last "x amount of time" and the forum member can return to make posts normally after the ban expires. If the ban is permanent then they are gone for good.

Shouldn't that be called a kick?

Anyways, what are the grounds for a ban, aside from the most common forum violations?

Why? is that how other forums label temporary bans?

Lots of things are considered in each case. What leads to the ban of member A can be completly different from what gets member C the same treatment. Some members can go through years of warnings and infractions before getting the hammer, while others can't manage to stay around for more than a week.

I think he's referencing the nomenclature used on IRC chat rooms. Even then it doesn't really seem correct to call it a kick since those usually allow a person to reenter immediately afterwards. A tempban would be the appropriate IRC parallel.

Well if we use corporate speak, it would be called a suspension. Permanent Bans would basically be termination.

Cheers.

From the perspective of the user he/she will only be able to see his own posts/threads while banned and only answer to pms though the message settings I believe are default vB settings rather then what you normally get. Obviously you can logout to actually view the forum while your account is banned.

I am pretty sure you can see the forum while banned, but as you said you can't post.

I've been banned a few times. Unless it was changed, you can't see it properly.

I can't connect my Nexus 7 to XP because XP can't install the drivers on its own, so I downloaded them and did it manually.

The set I took from XDA and developers.android don't work. They're not complete.

I've actually already been able to download the right set once before, but that was on someone else's laptop an hour and a half from here by plane. I can't remember exactly where I downloaded that or even the search terms I used.

Has anyone had success connecting a Nexus 7 to XP? How is that?

Are you connecting via MTP?

As long as you don't log-in on your banned account. You can see the forum just fine.
