In fact, many scholars (doctors, professors, and scientists) even written quite a number of articles & papers about it and claimed themselves as being fans of Star Trek despite some obvious flaws in its science and logic. Those scholars obviously take science a lot more seriously than many of us here, yet they still love Star Trek and consider it one of the best sci-fi series out there .

The initial starship would be like Star Trek's Vulcan starship i.e. ring shaped warp drive starship.

Thanks for the information, encia. At least your post will show how much sci-fi Star Trek really is to Tenzen12 who's still denying its scifi-ness.

PS: When I said Star Trek still has some “bogus science” I strongly referring to its "superb" Teleportation Technology which teleport almost anything to almost anywhere which, in many cases, don’t need to rely on any other teleportation devices on the target location. That’s just one thing among others. Not counting how many sentient alien life-forms that looks 70-99% like human. But the series itself is still sci-fi no doubt.

They are also working on Star Trek style transporter. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/sc...er-451673.html

ST has answered it's humanoid issue with ST TNG "The Chase" episode i.e. a common humanoid ancestor that has seeded the goldilocks planets with life. Some Sci-Fi animes has similar themes e.g. older and advance human race visiting recent humans (Earth).

For some tech companies, Star Trek = a road map for technical innovation.

Nice info .

Regarding the developed “Transporter” by the scientists. It still needs a “receptor” at the designated place. So, it’s still a far far far cry from Star Trek’s teleporters which can transport matters into any designated place (mostly) without the need of a receptor at all. The scientists in the article even said that (at the current technology) teleporting people (or any solid matter) is impossible, let alone teleporting solid matter without any receptor at the target location. At this point, the Teleporter ala Star Trek is as probable as Time Machine. The technology that we need to achieve it is so “out there” that it can still be considered “magic”.

The Sentient life thing is some what explained in universe by having one of the first races seed countless worlds with genetic information that had a built in programing that pushed it into evolving toward their image inside junk dna. not great science but less bogus then transporters (which were always more of a story telling device)

I still think the science behind the "humanoid explanation" is damn bogus, but overall, I agree with your point.

Because I'm determined to not let this thread die until more anime has been greenlit (lol), here's some of the Arpeggio stuff that was on display at WonFes this past weekend. The ships in particular look amazing:

In case people here haven't visited the manga thread, here's the upcoming plastic model of I-401 Ars Nova Mode :

And an interview concerning the anime:

then they talk about second season possibly introducing scarlet fleet

I believe "2期" means season 2,not 2 cour,so include Musashi, Yamato, and possibly Missouri are what they want for season 2

Yeah that's sounds about right, though i don't think they talked about they want 2 cour,it just their "originally planned"

Sorry to disappoint, I just couldn't get Vol 2 this time around since I'm tight on money this month.

So no pics and scans this time.

^ Damn, Kirishima looks even sexier in traditional 2D drawing . It's too bad we can only enjoy her "real" body in 1+ episode in the anime .

Y'know, something that strikes me as interesting: the Ars Nova ending implies that Makie, Haruharu and Kirikuma's beach house is in America. I think that's quite interesting - the Americans aren't trying to kill them off, unlike the Japanese government, which was shortsighted in that regard.
