K. So a few members who made much earlier posts in this thread said that there would be aliens & that the final arc of this anime may take place in space. While they were joking then, it actually turned out to be true. -_-

Wow, this anime has a little too many twists. We have Japan's Prime Minister giving Ironman a nod. >.>

Then, We've got Mr. Justice turning out to be an alien. (This is a reference to the Marvel Avengers cartoon from Disney XD.) With Captain 'Murica being the first skrull revealed.

Did I mention that there are Flamencos everywhere? @_@

*Sigh* This anime is getting a little disappointing now, but I've been here since the beginning & I won't drop it this late in the game.

Not much to say for this episode that is positive. Though its good to see that Masayoshi's morals are still in tact. Flamenco Girls are also back. Meh, that's about it.

Honestly, this episode was shit. I like this anime, but I'm not biased. I see it as I call it & it was shit.

Well, I see it as I call it, and I thought it was awesome, clearly we have different expectations. The PM fight was amazing (all those bad puns, and they actually made him say "I'm souri!", that made me howl XDDD), the reason behind the PM trying to raise his approval rate was hilariously appropriate, and then I kind of lost it at the aliens part. Also, Policeman Flamenco.

And yes, everything is Flamenco, wtf. XDDD

The entire episode was based on Marvel's Civil War event (comic book, not sure how the cartoon went with it), from the anti-costumed hero bill to Prime-Ironman and Mr. Justice being an alien.

After the Civil War started, what happened next was... Please don't tell me we are going to have a One More Day scenario.

I found it a lot of fun, but they're right on the line now. And I think they need another key reveal or two to give the full narrative some semblance of sense. And yeah, I'm hoping this is the final "escalation", or at least the 2nd last one.

You and I both saw how Valvrave went a bit too far with this sort of approach to story-telling, so we know how risky it is. I think that Samurai Flamenco hasn't yet fallen into the same pitfalls that Valvrave (and Galilei Donna) did, but it's right on the precipice.

On the positive side, when an anime show pulls off this sort of story-telling well, you get a true memorable epic, like Gurren Lagann.

The key is... Do the writers have a plan that goes straight through the ending, or are they doing everything off the seat of their pants? If it's the latter, it's almost certainly going to trainwreck. But I'm cautiously optimistic that it's the former, since a lot of the comedy/satire is very clever and inspired. So I'm inclined to give these writers the benefit of the doubt. The final few episodes will ultimately tell the story.

I hardly read marvel comics, I'm a DC kind of guy (Not a fan of the new 52 though). So my knowledge about comic arcs & crossovers for the marvel universe is limited. I only have the movies, cartoons & the little comic info that I do know to work with.

You're right. Maybe I am being too hasty with my judgement? Probably because I set my expectation bar too high.

If I managed to ride the Rave train without getting pissed, only until the ending that is, then I should be more than able to handle Samumenco. It still has five episodes to go, so it has plenty of time to redeem this episode that IMO was a let down.

I've reserve my judgement on the series until I've seen the ending. It'll make or break the anime, so here's to hoping that the ending makes this one memorable.

One More Day lack space content and, also, DC comics space content is way more popular than at Marvel.

So I'm voting for SinestroFlamenco Corp War!

Flamencos are everywhere! They've even started spreading to other anime series. Even the new Precure series has 'Cherry Flamenco'...

Too much DC isn't good for your health...lol I especially lol'd at Flamenco Prime. Superboy Prime must be so proud right now...XD

OT: Well, he's most likely off to space next episode. Who'll he take with him? The Flamcenco Girls, Goto or both?

i was thinking about a epic troll crazy ending of this series and come that in mind

if the last boss is a parody of freeza and we get a dragon ball ending

goto and masayoshi are fighting the last enemie then goto get serious enjured then masayoshi discover who he not human and a "sayamenco" race then goes berserker and turn in a super sayamenco to defeat the last boss like belzebub ended now, that could be a really crazy and funny ending.

his hair grow and tooks a super sayajin like (spiked to up) then masayoshi does a "flamenhameha" or a genkimenco.

I actually noted some nationalist, right-wing imagery here all the way back in episode 3. But at the time I thought the series was setting it up to be satirized. Little did I know...

It's not like we are about to be surprised by some nationalism in our anime, right? It was mild compared to when they said no other country had as many heroes as Japan, and they are the citizens.

But the most "Nihon Banzai!" episode this week was Nobunagun's WWII nostalgia.

I'm not really seeing a strong nationalism in this show.

The most nationalistic character in this show was the Japanese Prime Minister, and he just finished playing the villain of the last few episodes and getting his ass kicked.

Now, the show does have occasional bits of patriotism to it, but it's nothing beyond what you'd find in an average Captain America comic.

Now, is the show right-wing? Yes, in a way. Super-heroes in general have a definite element of "right-wing" to them. I mean, the lone individual, the private citizen, taking the defense of the people and fighting crime into his or her own hands, working loosely with actual legal authorities or not at all... It's definitely not hard to see how that would appeal to conservatives of a more libertarian leaning. But I don't think it's such a strong element that people of different political views can't appreciate superheroes.
