I see one of two reasons; a human reason and an unidentified reason. In both cases, it begins with Kobeni nearly dying while visiting the grandfather and meeting Hakuya. For the human reasoning, Benio basically went a bit nutty with her fear of losing her little sister and became far too attached. For the unidentified reason, Kobeni may unconsciously be using the same power Mashiro uses and has Benio fawn over her as a way of compensating for everyone comparing them.

Or, for a meta reason, "because".

1. For the human reasoning, Benio basically went a bit nutty with her fear of losing her little sister and became far too attached.

2. For the unidentified reason, Kobeni may unconsciously be using the same power Mashiro uses and has Benio fawn over her as a way of compensating for everyone comparing them.

1. Hmm ... I could see something like this having taken place.

2. Oh? For some reason the idea that Kobeni could have inherited Hakuya's powers and has them ... err ... "idling in the background", I guess ... had not occurred to me. I guess it certainly is possible. Can you think of other times in the series that might point to evidence for this?

3. Best answer.

Benio is the type that acts first think latter. She almost always fallows where ever her siscon instinct lead her. She also has tunnel vision which makes matter worse.

Even though she knew Hakuya and Kobeni are engaged, I don't think she ever anticipate that Kobeni would ever return the feelings to such extent, and combined that with Hakuya's reaction in responses to Kobeni "level up" maybe too much to handled that it trigger Benio's siscon feral instinct.

Yeah siscon feral instinct, I find Benio more feral than Hakuya. Most of Benio's reaction are considered knee-jerked so this one is no different.

That said, for the first time I'm starting to find Benio's presence in this episode annoying. Personally, I'm not pleased at all with how she reacts at the end. She could just vent her frustration on Mashiro instead of pushing Hakuya down like that. Throughout the episode, she suffers the most from all this misunderstanding, and the major cause of that is due to her overactive imagination.

Relationship wise, at this point, I think Kobeni still needs a little more support to get her to accept and confess her feeling to Hakuya.

Just watched the episode, and Benio is decidingly taking on some really rapey overtones with her "no means yes"...
As for Konoha, she has me utterly confused, is she just following family customs? or does she actually has some interest in Hakuya? Because she's pushing the issue everytime she gets...

I don't think Konoha has any interest in Hakuya as Hakuya. She's interested in him as a marriageable male. Based on what Konoha said her mother told her, there is a shortage of males of their kind. So her mother advised Konoha that if she finds a single male, she should marry him before someone else does. Konoha is just following her mother's advice.

If Konoha has actual feelings for Hakuya, she's doing a terrible job at showing it. Instead, she's making it seem like she's just putting a claim on him (she did say she was "calling dibs" on him) and we learn that it's because males of her species seem to be in short supply.

Also, she seemed to be ready to give up on him when she heard that he's engaged to Kobeni, but the whole misunderstanding cycle with Hakuya saying that nothing was going on between them (because he was told to keep that a secret) made her believe she might still have a chance with him.

Benio needs a slap in the face. She was went from humoruous creepy older sister to total "You can't have mai waifu" territorial girl dog. Someone needs to knock her off her high horse

Hakuya's joke is right about Benio being the father of Kobeni.

And what is most concerning me, more secrets about Kobeni.

The journalist really should give up on those scoops. She knows Kobeni dislikes it, is that kind of journalsit she wants to be?

What does Benio mean by it is uninteresting for her that Kobeni's and Hakuya's relationship proceeding well?
I think she is rather does not like this kind of development rather than losing Kobeni herself because she can still love Kobeni in her own way, that does not change in the future but Hakuya is still her hinderance being unfitable for her ideal world of putting both Kobeni and Mashiro in her arms.

It sure seems like Niko is well on her way to being part of pretty trash journalism. Let's just go around stalking people who don't want to be mentioned in interviews. I can get being focused and passionate about journalism, but there has to be a million things she can write about. Instead it's just going around harassing someone related to a famous person in the school.

As to the episode itself, feels like a bit of a step back just to keep the tension going on. Mostly Kobeni trying to pull the breaks on things. Bit of a rough episode for Hakuya really. With the pressure of Konoha off Kobeni's back it might be back to slow going on the development side there.

Was somewhat funny where Kobeni thought she might be gaining super powers. Honestly I think the amazing ability she gained is still being alive. A pretty decent pickup really . I'm still curious on the effects of this power splitting though. Have to think it has some impact on Hakuya personally.

I do have to give credit to Nadeshiko. She really tries to balance things in that Student Council. Deals with Benio's insanity while at the same time trying not to shatter Konoha's idealized image of Benio.

Hmm....

For some reason this ep did not work for me as well as the others - it somehow felt less focused, maybe even "weaker" in a way. I wonder why? Perhaps I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?
In any event pretty enjoyable all around.

Began to wonder, though, if Benio's popularity might not be an odd manifestation of Hakuya's power in Kobeni. She seems to want to be unobtrusive and stay out of the limelight, and perhaps does so by "ramping up the aura" around Benio - even though there are parts of her that feel unhappy and lonely at her "having her wish granted" in a strange way. It is hard to tell.... Well, at least for me it is. ^^

It's because everything that seemed to be advancing over the past couple of episodes was basically reverted, and we're now further back than we were before Suetsugi became relevant.

This episode felt very 'Minami-ke' to me. Maybe because of the way Hakuya's hopes kept rising, and then falling.

Episode had some good lines and scenes though. Kobeni going back and forth was kind of annoying though. Poor Hakuya was so proud of the handkerchief present, then Kobeni just gives it to her sister and mashiro too.

I was going to post about Journalism, but I will keep it short, Hakuya, I know your pain. Who is thinking like myself that Benio should be wrapped with explosives and thrown inside a cave (I know she would return, guess who other pervert received that treatment only to return later on).

Ok, this episode was a little off from the flow of the others, mainly because I spent the entirety of it picturing Kobeni in a bike furiously backpeddaling, but even with that it was enjoyable.
