Just a thought, if Inari gives her power back to Uka, wouldn't she go back to Sumizome's form? Since Uka's original wish is still in effect.
Also does Touka see Uza in her full form or a ghostly shape still I wonder. At times both seem possible.
In theory yes, which is why she has uka's power to begin with. They could make up any bs they wanted to explain why she wouldnt tho. Something like since she had divine power in her, she subconsciously negated the wish herself after she realizes she doesnt want to be anyone else but herself.

Given that one of the early issues with Uka's power was testing how long Inari could maintain a transformation (and one of the early things they cut out of the anime was a transformation starting to fail because Inari had stayed in it too long), it seems that the divine power recognizes "Inari" as Inari's "true form" even though that wasn't the form she was in when she got the power. So using the power to change herself to Inari canceled the Sumizome transformation, rather than layering a new transformation on top of it.

I was confused at this problem as well...but if you forget the concept of transformation technique from...errr...Naruto, it's all make sense

just think of it as when Inari transform into someone, she becomes 'that' someone in the outside, so there is no original form that you will revert to when your 'chakra' is running out

just my theory though...

Wow. A lot happened in that ep at the end.

Still, I thought the ep was wonderful - you tell em Inari!

That being said, Uka-sama's dad is great. Whoulda thought of a god looking like that?

08 was good.
Felt very Natsume Yuuchichou with the Uka x Touka scenes. Very heartwarming, a fan of god x human stories, so I'm really interested in that development.

I don't get the whole conflict with Inari returning the power. if Inari keeps using the power, Uka will fade away, why not tell her? So she isn't transforming for every little thing, and seems Inari would be able to give it back if she willed it herself, so what's the problem?

First, Inari would feel guilty about having been hurting Uka. Second, and more significant, the divine power is what allows the two of them to interact. If Inari gives back the divine power, she and Uka can never see each other or speak to each other again. The two of them back become close friends, and the idea that they would have to give up that friendship is too painful for the them think straight. Well, Inari hasn't really been given the choice, but it would hurt her too. Uka, at least, is in denial: unable to properly face the fact that her only two choices are to either abandon her new best friend forever, or die.

Inari was able to see Uka before having received the divine power though.

I've heard that response about 500 times by now, and it's getting rather tiresome. Everyone always tries harping Uka appearing to Inari to grant her wish. Ignore it. It has no relevance to this. They haven't told us why that happened, and it doesn't matter. Pay attention to the fact that the show is repeatedly telling you that Inari can't see Uka without divine power, rather than trying to find a way to outsmart the plot.

After all, no matter what you think is true about Inari's ability to perceive Uka, what matters at this moment is what Uka thinks, and she's made it plain she thinks she'll lose Inari if she gets her powers back.

rather than trying to outsmart the plot...I believe the author just simply forget about it when he wrote the story...

The same goes for Inari's first wish (transform to sumizome) as well

not that I really minds, happens to every author

I think it's entirely possible that she shifted form to one that humans can see when she granted that wish but that takes magic from her.
Inari being able to see the foxes and Uka when she is in Sumizome is more difficult to explain. Maybe residual magic from the wish?

Or maybe Uka cast a limited time spell on Inari to allow her to communicate with the gods to know her wish?

I know Sanjou is actually a good person, but damn does she have a nasty outside shell. It makes sense that only someone with an angelic personality like Sumizome would fall in love with her. Very few people could tolerate that. But even Sumizome has a tough\mean streak (when it counts). Watching Inari experience extreme dislike for people was actually interesting, minus the impending doom it would have caused.

Uka in divine punishment.
Everyone sure was worried about her.
Inari and Tanbabashi should just confess to each other already.
Things got out of hand at the temple.
Guess it's not always smart to try and help everyone all the time.
Inari just keeps making trouble for Uka.
No matter the friendship, she's still just a teenage girl with feelings.
Touka is the only completely sane one.
He's the only one who sees how much strain sharing divine power has on Uka.

Well, another thoroughly enjoyable ep. This series really is hitting a sweet spot for me in so many ways. ^^

I liked the whole process of the aftermath of one of Inari's rash decisions to use the divine abilities within her as an extra support to lending her the resolve to return Uka-sama's power to her. Just kinda fit for me. But yes - having a 14 year old wielding such power when they are extra emotionally volatile could indeed spell potential disaster for many, many innocent bystanders....

What made me curious in this ep was Susanoo's all too limited responses in the screen time he was given - I am wondering whether or no he will rectify that in the next ep as it seems he is one of the few (maybe the only one, actually) who is... umm... sympathetic(?) to the emotional ties between Inari and Uka-sama. Also wondering if Uka-sama's brother will try to kill Inari....

I didn't like this episode at all, dont care to watch girls acting like cunts. I skipped over some parts just to get to the uka plots. I just can't get into these eps that focused solely on inari and her friends. This will prolly be the only season i will watch. It'd need to have more touka and uka for me to watch another season. Inari and uka calling out to other constantly gives me nightmares remembering inyusha/kagome. I was hoping touka was gonna tag along to help save uka too, still hoping its the case.

Hmmm. They significantly downplayed the disaster Inari nearly caused (everyone around Inari was a fraction of a second from being killed in the manga), and now are dragging out the difficulty of returning the powers with a scene that didn't happen at all. Not that it isn't still emotional and all, but I think all of this could have worked fine in its original form.

I didn't like the episode because of the horrible misunderstanding. You could say it was the consequence of Inari's actions but I don't think she did anything to deserve that. She had already set things right by delivering that girl's feelings to Tanbabashi. This seemed like rather cheap drama to me.

As we saw, the girl herself didn't have any grudge against Inari. The whole thing was a misunderstanding on her friends' parts. Now, personally I have never been able to warm up to her friends, but in this case I have to say that it looked from their perspective like Inari had done something cruel and underhanded. I think they should have confronted her directly with it rather than trying to do something cruel back, but I at least understand the reasoning behind their thoughts.
