A media player with screenshot.

I'm trying to find a media player in which I can shoot screenshots with.

Thank you in advance!

VLC. Simple as Ctrl-Alt-S. Plus it's a great player

Virtualdub isn't really a player, but is probably better for screenshots. Easy to seek to a specific frame.

Media Player Classic works for me. You have to go in and specify a default shortcut key: I use "p", which makes things very easy.

I find both of those easier players to use than VLC, particularly for jumping forward and back to catch words or subtitles, but maybe I just haven't learned enough about VLC. VLC and BSPlayer both play the very few files MPC doesn't, for me.

BSPlayer used to be a bit better for taking screenshots, because you can specify which directory and not have to click OK each time, but it's ad-supported now.

Thanks much! I'm going to try VLC, as I've heard of it before and my friend with it says she likes it much.

I'll try Media Player Classic if that doesn't work out. Thank you!

A player-independent way to do it:
http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/ind...grab_frames.3F

Yet another way to do it is to use Aegisub, which has a "save PNG snapshot" option. This has a few interesting advantages, such as easy resizing and including softsubs in the screenshots. It's also a software renderer, which guarantees that the picture looks like the actual decoded video. MPC uses one of the VMR renderers to take screenshots, and those are known to frequently turn black into grey, give the image a greenish hue or occasionally produce incredibly jagged edges.

This is something I have to deal with every day, so...
I personally still use BSPlayer (yes I know everyone says it sucks, but I'm used to using it). For everything that BSPlayer can't handle (certain mpeg-2, mkv), I use the latest version of VLC, which can also cap.
