Another excellent episode. Seems we're done with the basic setup for the series now (next episode looks set to be a bit of a breather).
Mika as badass as ever. Orga more casually cool but merciless too. He also made the right choices again. Kudelia gets some character development too and we get a bit more insight into her situation. No complaints. |

Jesus that was glorious
-Well done coup -Mika truly is a soldier through and through -RIP, Imma get a Graze model solely in honor of this episode -Orga made all the right calls, he's really sharp. Well, he could have put the new name to a vote at least haha -Kudelia gets the resolve to become strong in her own way, and as expected she continues to be the employer Whats Mika eating????? Next episode seems to be a breather ep, I don't mind as long as they flesh out characters more and further establish the setting (which they probably will) |

Some cold-blooded killings (or should I say, iron-blooded killings? ) by you-know-who.
But seriously, it sucks to be in Crank’s position. At least he got a nicer death compared to that bitch Orlis who got crushed to death. Also, all this financial talking brings a smile to my face. Rarely we have a series where money really dictates our heroes' actions. It might sound less novel than fighting for your high-idealism, but fighting for your survival is also a good story material. I'm liking this dirty and down-to-earth (or should I say, down-to-Mars? ) Gundam series. Heero from Gundam Wing has made a career out of it . God knows how many people he has killed in cold-blood for the sake of mission. Even in the first episode of Wing, he is willing to shoot down a shuttle full of civilians coz it’s in the way of his mission. But yeah, Mika’s killing in this series has more impact imo.

More and more, I like how unflinching the characters here are in their convictions. Unlike the usual Gundam angst usually revolving around doubt and questioning their philosophies, Orga, Mika and the others simply plow through their problems and do what they need and have to do. Mika in particular has the same coldness to killing like Heero and Setsuna does without the angst.
Kudelia herself also fits in here: even entertaining the notion of getting herself the Alaya-Vijnana surgery takes balls, even if Orga had to dissuade her from it, and in the end she finds a way to end Tekkadan's (the CGS' new name) financial problems. No awesome verbal burn today, but she grew up well enough at least. Also, the fastest way to a girl's heart is to complement her cooking isn't it? As to the actual duel vs Crank, it was short, and straight-to-the-point brutal, no flashy moves or poses or anything. Though surprised to see the Barbatos mace do THAT Finally, looks like they made a slight change to the OP sequence here:

Regarding the scene where Mika just killed the leader of the first group, I found it interesting that Orga will not dirty his hand and made Mika do it. That scene gave me a feeling that Mika is only a tool for Orga.
And Mika killing so mercilessly is quite refreshing. Unlike some of our previous angst mc, who would breakdown after killing, Mika just do it. But I do wonder if Mika will look at back and regret his action or finally be shaken after killing someone. Finally, I really like Aina, she has lot of room to grow and knows her flaw. Instead of just moping around, she is looking for a way to improve herself. And just as much as she can learn from Mika, he also can learn thing or two from her, like being more humane and independent. Side note, Tekkadan... I almost heard Tekkaman for a second and goddamn I wish it was Tekkaman.

Bloody hell, this show is taking its sweet time to get off the ground. That's not a bad thing mind you (and the rewards for such an investment are usually well worth it) but I do hope 24-26 episodes doesn't turn out to be too short for this series because I was really hoping for 50. Let's just hope it gets a second season as well.
But yeah, I'm forced to change my opinion now: Mika is indeed scarier than Kamille. Also fyi Orga, that does make you look very cool but for your own safety you really need to take cover. Or at least wear eye protection.

Damn Mika, would it kill you to wait until others finished talking before you kill them.
BTW Is that really Atra's bracelet Mika holding ? I don't think I see her give it to him yet. even if she did, I find it quite odd he would hold it so dearly. EDIT: Oh nice catch Quote:

How Barbatos' mace with a pile driver worked reminded me of the SRW OG The Inspector cold opening myself.
Anybody get the feeling Mika keep smelling that band that he has a fetish for Atra? While Atra herself may be concerned that the Kudelia is competition. Yeah Mika has point. We win what do we get in return? Krank didn't really think about that. But damn Mika is both apathetic and cold. Sure the guy is asking you to kill him but at least let him finish. |
