Hmm I just started this, but the main character reminds me of Yuki from Fruits Basket. Very similar it seems

heh ok I just discovered that in addition to the looks, the voices are in fact the same

Haruhi is played by Maaya Sakamoto (Hitomi in Escaflowne, Reika in RahXephon, etc). Yuki Sohma is played by Aya Hisakawa (Kero-chan in Cardcaptor Sakura, Miki in Revolutionary Girl Utena, Sailor Mercury in Sailor Moon, etc).

hmm...i started to watch this anime because i read a little of the manga. well the first episode sure gave off a good impression. it made me wanted to continue to watch it. so that's what i'm doin' now. man! i'm lovin' it!!!!!!

I watched about 5 and then quit--couldn't stand those twins, and the girl lead wasn't good looking. I did like the blonde and black haired (financial) guys though. I didn't find much humor or romance, but I liked the unique genteel aspect of this series

hmm....i like the twins though. the only thing that i don't like about them is when they put on that gay act for their host. but otherwise i do like them. i guess what i like most about them is when they trick tamaki to do dumb things.

I just watched the first episode and I found it pretty entertaining, even though I don't completely fancy the idea of a host club. However, the twist here with Haruhi makes this series appeal to me.

On another note, I really enjoyed the scene when the students distinctly point out the differences between the rich and the commoners. That got a laugh out of me.

this show should have a warning if your a guy watch if your a gay man i saw 1 second and i already turned it off in the first minute of watching they are littaraly gay so us guys shouldnt watch it u can swear at me and block but i aint watching it my freind thinks its funny i still wont watch it it makes me sick

i still cant forget gross sick show

i was randomly rewatching episode 1 tonight, and i found out that at 12:55 One twin says something in Hikaru's voice, and then the same twin talks in the RIGHT voice which was Kaoru's. XD

I may be absolutely missing something here, but why did Tamaki say that Haruhi was gay, just because Haruhi shouted at 'Honey' senpai? Honey senpai only referred to Haruhi as Haru-chan which (as far as I'm concerned) is only an 'affectionate' term. What was the justification for Tamaki's comment based on Haruhi's reaction?

I found this show was overrated but I still too early to say so.

Spoiler for My first impression on Ouran High School Host Club:

To tell the truth I always avoiding myself watching this series. Not because I hate it but to wait its hype to cools down. I also currently avoid watching Lucky Star and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 for same reason. After nearly two years passed, the hype that surrounds Ouran High School Host Club still not yet cooled down but instead its getting hotter and hotter. Even some of friends convince me to watch it and finally I gave up. I bet my luck on the first episode. The actual review begins after this....

I did not find it impressive as the hype says. Maybe because I'm not the target audience of this show. The first episode starts as Haruhi accidentally entered the "host club" room. In there she saw some handsome students that girls can dreamed. She actually tried to leave but in the process, she accidentally break the vase that is worth more than herself. The only way for her to repay the debt is be one of them, as the lowest-ranking member. And then their usual busisness starts...

While the premise sounds convincing but the only biggest problem with this show is none of its "jokes" are funny. I tried to laugh to the jokes but I just couldn't. Maybe I tried too hard. The only thing I can do is smiled sarcastically and thinking "why so many people find these scenes funny?". And then I asked God why I couldn't laugh seeing this show. Then I felt that God wants me to try couple more episodes before I can make further judgement.

About the characters, I did not find them to be likeable. First we got Haruhi. I don't know how to describe her but she was bullied twice just in single episode. First she was treated slightly better than a dog then her bag was thrown into a fountain that located just outside of her room. The good thing about her that she is a forgiving person and dubbed entire situation as 'accident'. Second, the 'king' of the club, Tamaki. I'm not sure that he is the president or not but he certainly have the most fans if compared to the other members. There are 'cool' one and 'quite' one which will be introduced later. Two identical twins that I have no clue theri existence in this show but as fanservice. Finally a shouta kid that doesn't belongs there but also for fanservice. In my opinion, he will be the boy that Michael Jackson and Orochimaru could love to have. Surprisingly my favorite character is the red haired girl who bullied Haruhi. Of course I hate what she did to Haruhi but I felt sorry to her after she was heartbroken by Tamaki. She may get what she deserves but for me that was too much. If I were that girl or any other nameless female character there, I will form a club that exclusively for the girls who have been heartbroken by Tamaki or any other guys in that host club. Eventually my own club will overwhelms them for good. The worst character for me is Tamaki. He makes a girl who idolize him like god cry and proud for doing so. And what is worse, other girls impressed with his action like a hero. For me Tamaki is the biggest bully ever that I want to see him dead but unfortunately he is the main protagonist except Haruhi herself.

What about the best points for this show? Actually I do like its animation quality. It is something that director and producer of this show worked for so long. Voice acting also pretty decent.

On the final thoughts, this is a shoujo anime that aimed towards teenage girls, which I'm not one of them. Of course most men and feminists will not going to like this show. In my opinion, the feminists will hate this even worse than the men because of what happened to that red haired girl.

I hope someone else will disagree with me.

I think the girl who tossed her luggage in the fountain DID know, girl bullies usually don't beat up on boys unless they know the person is weaky weaky, s/he would have been an unknown quantity.
