If you have a complete file, just reopen the torrent like you were going to download it for the first time. (Just make sure you select the correct file!) BitTorrent will check the file for any errors and put you on the network to seed. If you want to seed a file you are currently downloading, just leave the torrent open after the download finishes, and you'll automatically seed.

Strangely I'm having problems seeding ever since I got a router. I opened the BT ports and downloading is fine but I can only seed if I leave the BT on after finishing the download. But if I want to seed a file which has already finished previously, I always get the yellow light (for Shadow's client) and can only upload 1-2kB/s.

have you forwarded the ports/firewall ?? look for related threads if you havent.
