One character excels (super-seeds) others.

I'm looking for a scenario (typical to that of Shounen) where one character (usually the protagonist) excels unbelievably fast in something compared to his or her peers.

For example, 'Gon' from 'Hunter x Hunter' , 'Ichigo' from 'Bleach', 'Kurono' from 'Gantz', amongst others.

There's something about seeing a character 'power-up' before a fight, and seeing the impressions on the other character's faces of awe/fear that I really like, for example.

Ideally I'd prefer the other characters to admire, or be 'aware' from an early stage of the person's capabilities/talents as opposed to a case like 'Naruto' where the rest constantly underestimate him. That said, while frustrating, I do love the moments when a character proves his or her worth in a big way.

You can refer to the titles I've seen on my list here.

Thank you.

hmm... you've already got most of them I'd recommend on your list...

Angelic Layer I think works for what you're looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely have a look out for it.

I will also mention that the theme doesn't have to revolve around fighting, but anything. Think 'Yakitate Japan'..

Thanks again.

If you want to see people in awe of someone just go get any sports anime out there, some you might want to check out:

Major
Hajime no Ippo
Akagi
Initial D
Capeta

But really just look for any sports anime.

I think Beck is a great example, its not fighting but it fits what you want, Hikaru no Go is another example

Strangely I haven't seen many sport-oritentated shows... I will look out for the ones suggested in the future, thank you.

I have actually seen both Air Gear and Beck. They're both very good recommendations, so thank you nonetheless.

Wow, it certainly is a long list!

Thanks tritoch for taking the time to selectively choose these titles. I've seen X TV, Gundam Seed/Destiny, Wolf's Rain and Berserk, but I have yet to see the rest, so thank you.

I purchase most of my Anime these days so I should be able to find them when I next go to Akihabara.

Edit: I will definitely look out for Shadow Skill.
