As far as Im aware there arent many horror anime shows out there, they are mostly OVAs and feature length movies, as the stuff of TV has be quite 'tame'*

As for action, you could do worse than any of the following (considering most of the stuff you've mentioned is realistic-ish):

Last EXILE
Cowboy Bebop
Noir

*this word is used very loosely

You could take a look at Ayatsuri Sakon and Mermaid's Forest (TV).

My suggestions:

- Hellsing (licensed)
- Blood: The Last Vampire (licensed)
- Arc the Lad (licensed)

Horror? A tough one, if i may say so...
well,you could try:

-Hitsuji no Uta
-Devilman/Lady
-Chrno Crusade (not really horror, but it can be recommended in any case)
-Berserk (the manga is a gazillion times better but the anime is great nonetheless, especially the "end")

Hundred Stories and to an extent Gilgamesh... I highly recommend both....
