Yeah, I was wondering why I was faster than you were this time :P

But as I said, this IS the low resolution version. We MIGHT do the high res too but that depends on how many people actually want it.

but the high res versions were done superbly well even if it was upscaled from a smaller res raw. =)

To any Animesuki personel:

Could somebody please change it on the animesuki frontpage so that it doesn't say "HD" version but "High resolution" version?

It makes us look stupid because Otoboku doesn't air in HD.

Thanks in advance

Kindest regards,

Alex Bouwmeester

Then why are you encoding it in 1280x720?

This really isn't the issue. The group may encode in whatever resolution they wish.

My (limited) understanding was that 1280 x 720 (and 1920 x 1080) were both defined as HDTV. At least that what sites such as Wiki tell me.

Since the resolution is 1280 x 720, we considered it as HD. Now, it's true there aren't really "standards" in place for how to label anime downloads (we tend to use what the group label the torrent as a guide). For example, we use LQ, HQ, 1024x576, LD, SD, HD and I wouldn't be surprised if we used HR or HiRes in the past.

Xris,

The one that uploaded the raw to Share or Winny UPSIZED the raw to that size. Otome ha boku ni koishiteru does not air in HD.

We found out after episode 1 that it doesn't air in HD. However, people still wanted the HighRes version, which is why we decided to release both versions.

Anyways, do what you see fit with this information.

With kindest regards,

Alex Bouwmeester.

Again..
It's been recorded in 1280x720.
We don't say High Definition as this is just a upscaled capturing.

Can't you just make it: 1280x720 as you also state 1024x576 -_-
You can also make it HQ or something tho -_-

OK, it begins to make sense now. Please remember we are not mind-readers so while this info may be well known within your group, the only practical way we can find out is if you tell us about it.

The only reason we include tags such as XviD / h264, LQ / HQ, or LD / SD / HD is to help differentiate when a group makes a multiple release of the same episode.

The object isn't to try and define all the aspects of the release. If a group releases a single version of an fansub that's h264, then we do not include the info in our database. It's only if there are multiple releases of the same episode by the same group that we add tags such as XviD and h264. The same is true for LQ and HQ tags and LD, SD, 1024x576, HD tags.

It isn't practical for us to try and find out the precise and exact meaning of LQ or HQ in many cases (plus, it's very subjective). Same with LD, SD, and HD. We are not trying to give chapter and verse on all the aspects of the release, we are just saying "This is version A and this is version B".

Lastly, our view of the HD tags doesn't mean HDTV, it just means it's either 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080. To try and find out if the actual raw was from an HDTV source is again impractical. So in this context your HR tag is no different to our HD tag.

That's out intention at least. Please remember that a number of people are adding the torrents to the AnimeSuki database so there are going to be some inconsistences when it comes to adding such tags.

Having said all that, I'll change the HD to HR tags (and add SD tags to the 640 x 360 releases you do. But bear in mind other Staff may still accidentally enter future torrents as HD (which as I said, we do not consider as meaning HDTV source).
