is this the right memory for my computer?

i have a fujitsu laptop and i wanted to upgrade the memory.
this was inside

2 x pc 2700S 256MB DDR 333 CL2.5

i brought them into the computer store and he sold me this

PC2700 1GB DDR 333 SODIMM CL2.5

on the box it said SO-D pair

when i install it in my laptop all i get is a blank screen, windows or the bios are not launching. when i put the other memory back it seems to start up.

on the web site it says this

Two available DIMM slots to upgrade to 2 GB total memory (DDR333); 256 MB minimum memory.

I don't know exactly, but my vague guess is, that it might be the wrong modules (maybe DDR2 instead of DDR or something)

If you want to know how you can identify all the many SO-DIMM variants try this wikipedia link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM

(however, sometimes a motherboard just doesn't like a certain brand of memory - afaik that problem is a more common one in the notebook/laptop area)

It should be the right ram. are you keeping both sticks in or just the new one? if just the new one make sure that its in the first slot. it could also be a bad stick.
