Genre: Comedy, School Life

Expected Release Date: December 22, 2006

Well, well, well - what should I make of this? Different sites are reporting different info's on it like how many episodes this OVA supposed to be consisted of. AniDB lists 3 episodes for this OVA while ANN is showing 1 episode for it. What every other sites seem to agree upon is that the episodes of the Genshiken OVA will be released in a supplementary disk complementing the Kujibiki Unbalance OVA box.

It is 3 episodes, one to accompany each of the three DVD boxes for the Kujibiki Unbalance TV Series (so, 4 TV episodes and 1 OVA for a hefty 14490 yen (~$123 US) each). This is basically a mirror of how there were three Kujibiki Unbalance OVA episodes to accompany the three DVD Boxes for Genshiken.

ANN's listing isn't implying that there's 1 episode, only that there's only one release with a date, but this is actually inaccurate as well. Here are the Kujibiki Unbalance DVD box solicitations on Amazon, including the Genshiken OVA episodes: Box 1, Box 2, Box 3.

I have a question.

Will these episodes consist of original material, or will they consist of selected portions of the manga in the same manner that the Kujibiki Unbalance OVAs were broken down into 3 parts?

Its just carrying on from where the original series ended with more manga material - it'll be very interesting to see where they'll go upto.

Haven't see the first OVA myself - still waiting for the DVD to arrive, though from the looks of it i just know it'll be instant love straight away. I finally get to see my Ogiue animated, and the return of the one and only Saki. <3

& yes, the rest of the legendary cast.

I hope the 3 genshi OVA are one day released seperatly. Kujibiki Sucks tremendously IMO ( yes Ive seen it ) . I saw its purpose in Genshiken as an anime to represent how people from the outside world see anime, and nothing more. As a stand alone it was a joke.

Ogiue vs Onno stand off is the golden moment for Genshiken IMO.

Seeing as though Ohno never cosplayed as Saber in the manga, i can't see it happening - it wouldn't suit her style of cosplay choice.

Why did they just not do another season of Genshiken ... 3 episodes to cover 4 mangas is quite harsh!

I think the 3 episodes will cover just (the last chap. of volume 4 and) volume 5 , after which there is again enough material for another Genshiken season (vol. 6-9).

I liked the art change, it's more in line with the manga's style.

I guess the chance of seeing Ohno's friends from America in the OVA is very slim? I really liked the Convention chapter with them in it, especially Susie; "Neko no unko ni fume!"
