.MKV files

I don't know if there's a thread about this already, I've looked through the first few pages of threads in this forum and didn't see anything regarding this. Didn't want to look through the whole forum so apologies if there's another a thread like this. Also not sure if this is the right thread to post this so apologies for that too.

Anyway, I was wondering which programs people use to watch .MKV files.
I've always used VLC Media Player to watch them but the recent releases don't seem to work.
Can anyone suggest any other better programs to view these files?

Thanks.

If you use Windows, then download & install CCCP and use the video players included. My personal preference is Media Player Classic (MPC).

If you're not on Windows, mplayer might work for those files VLC has trouble with. Howto install (etc) depends on what OS you use.

'Came by this thread out of pure luck.

Anyway, since someone posted a thread about mkvs...
I'll ask a question i've been wondering for ages.

Has anyone gotten mkvs WITH subs to work in winamp?
I can view the mkvs in wmp with subs without any problems but as for winamp, well you get the idea.

Assuming you have the CCCP correctly installed, take a read here: http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/ind...title=Winamp_5
This might solve your problem, or maybe not. Winamp has it's own set of problems on the video front so it's not really recommended.
MPC/Zoomplayer included in the cccp are both better.
