The Licensing of Haruhi Suzumiya

Check out this and this.
Since Bandai have licensed The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, AnimeSuki will no longer list torrents for it. In addition, the following posts are no longer allowed:
  • Asking where you can find Suzumiya Haruhi downloads.
  • Providing links to Suzumiya Haruhi downloads.
  • Discussing Suzumiya Haruhi fansub groups (past or present).
  • Asking for help downloading Suzumiya Haruhi.
  • Asking for playback help for Suzumiya Haruhi episodes.
These rules applies to fansubs (in English or any other language) and raws alike.

You still are allowed to discuss the anime, that has not changed, but please remember to limit the discussion to the story. Discussion about the DVD releases are also welcome. This thread may be used to discuss aspects of the license.

If a Mod notices anyone breaking these rules then expect to be banned from the forums. It's unlikely a warning will be given and do not expect to be notified, you will just be banned. Please use the Report button if you notice any of the above rules being broken.

I hope everyone got their bytes and that the licensed releases aren't too long away (perhaps this summer?). Definitely going into my 2007 anime budget.

edit: Bleh.. just saw the 'dubbing' thread... moving my comments over there....

With this new thread, I'd like to bring attention back to the revised copyright info:

It's AD-LIBS, people! Fill in the proper nouns!

Though given that the voice samples, it's more likely it'll be from a LA studio.

My question is, since KyoAni has said on the 15th that the ED TV-sized Special has been completed, will that full-dancing version of Hare Hare Yukai be included in the US DVD release? Maybe as a special DVD in the first DVD art box set?

For those who didn't know, the 3-plus-minutes long version of the Hare Hare Yukai Dance will soon be released by KyoAni and will probably be part of the last R2 DVD. You can see the official sketches here.

I would have to rate the chances of us getting as "pretty good". Looking at FMP:SR, Kadokawa USA seems to like giving out DVD extras.

I'm not sure if this is the place to put this info but, oh well....apparently Bandai has created a MySpace page to celebrate the Haruhi licensing http://asosbrigade.com/ and looking to promote the DVD release through it. Might be worth a look for the rest of the Haruhi fans. If this has been posted elsewhere, then my sincere apologies.

You mean this page? Don't take this the wrong way but that myspace page was probably the first thing everyone clicked on as soon as the page was put up past midnight of 12/22. Unless you're talking about another myspace page of course. I even forced myself to make a myspace account for Kyon's sake.

A reminder There is a separate thread for the English Voice Actor discussion, it can be found here

The Dubbing of Haruhi Suzumiya

The recent posts from this thread have now been moved to the above thread. While it's true that the dubbing is concerned with the licensing process, there is a separate thread for such discussion. Please keep this thread more focussed on the licensing aspects.

That last source code alteration is too broken to be directly translated, but from what I can tell, they're thanking us for our input on the character voice polls and that it has been taken into consideration. It's just that the message is too garbled and corrupt.

I agree. Though, I tried to make sense out of it. Here's what I came up with:

Original: <!--~@ # 有 難 う、 楽  し ;った。    又 会 え」 て 4[よん] かった。左 様*  な ら。 -->

Modified: 有難う、楽しかった。又会えてよかった。左様なら。

CarpeDiem's subpar translation: Thank you, it was fun. I'm glad we were able to meet again. Goodbye.
