2 Computers slowing down bittorrent?

Here's my problem. Recently, my sister brought another computer and we brought this string thingy and plugged it to hers and registered in order for both computers for excess to the internet...We're on DSL....and before we connected 2 computers, my bittorrent speed was fast. IT's always download speed 80-100, upload speed 10-30. BUt now, it seems that i'm using 56k....Is it true that sharing internet connections WILL slow down speeds ALOT?

Thanks.

Depending on the configuration implemented, multiple computers CAN slow down internet connections

Sometimes your ports are blocked.

There's a tool on dslreports ( www.dslreports.com ) that will do a port scan for you. You can use that to see if your BT ports suddenly became blocked.

Are you now using a router to split the internet connection? If so, then DWKnight could be right in his assumption of ports being blocked.

Ok, well I went to that site and clicked port scan, it said
Refer to the Java applet below.
Press the PROBE button. Wait while the scan runs (a minute or so).
But the problem is that the Java applet didn't load????
Also if I did have blocked ports, what could I do to fix that?

"splitting connection" (hehe...what a funny way to call it) aka NAT/IP_Masquerade doesn't slow connection period!

Configure router to forward ports (u can choose what range) to computer that uses BT. You'll need to enable TCP ports, as far as I know BT doesn't use udp.
