As for 300, as good as it was (and it was awesome visual and gore-ish pleasure) I felt like there could have been more attention paid to the sub-story involving the politics (specifically the Spartan Queen and Dominic West's character)...I felt like there was alot of potential for an even better movie had they explored that side-story a bit more...Maybe I'm just asking for too much (because West is one of my favorite actors from HBO's "The Wire") but I wanted to see more acting and more scenery of that time period...Basically the movie is non-stop fighting sparced with a small amount of actual storytelling and settings...Still it was b!tchin, and it was cool to see Dhalsim's father draped in gold...If I were him I would have Yoga-flamed the Spartan's a$$ess...

Man, the legitimacy of killing fail babies and handicaps should be exterminated policy. A true warmongering movie. I pity the young dudes have to die for some dirty horny hairy old men. Especially the virgin son.

They were inspired by Spartans in general, not just the 300. Kinda obvious.
Additionally obvious because the GAME HALO CAME OUT BEFORE THE MOVIE 300.

What's your point? Really, what is it?

We all know that Halo came out before the 300 movie, that's just stating the obvious, it's like saying that water is wet. It doesn't change that the Spartans from Halo are based off of real Spartans back in Ancient Greece, not just the 300, but the whole Spartan lifestyle back then.

Also, the Graphic novel for 300 came out in 1998. There was the movie The 300 Spartans in the 60's, it's not like adapting the battle of Thermoplyae is anything new or special. Hell, even Samurai Jack has had its own take on it. So, it's not like it's anything original.

Also, the battle of Thermoplyae has always been quite famous, I knew about it when we did about Ancient Greeks in history when I was 8. We did all sorts of work on the Athenians and Spartans since they were the two of the most famous states in Ancient Greece. So, it's nothing new to me. Unlike most people now, I knew about all this before a Hollywood version came out.

Watched this last week.. some cool battle scenes, but what was the point of the random sex scenes and the girl dancing nude lol I think the story could have improved a bit, it wasn't nearly as good as some of the other movies of it's genre like Gladiator or Troy. Also what kind of movie title is 300?

A very good, simple, short, well chosen title..

I can't think of a better one actually.

What do you suggest they should have called it then?
Keeping in mind that almost the entire movie revolves around 300 men and their king..

Such a movie will undoubtedly be made somewhere along the line.. it's just that it won't be in the cinemas and you'd need to be at least 18+ to watch it..

Somewhere long the lines of 300"invasions" or the "Houston300"

Damn, I'm always, always late to this.

I hated the movie honestly, I tried to like it but I couldn't, I found it too "over the top" without any substance, its practically an empty movie.

The fighting scenes are more like posing, and yeah, people just came to get chopped meat. I didint watch any of the parts, i skipped right to the part where the female scenes and where the men screamed a lot and shouting speeches.

I guess if that people that expect to see a plot then the movie is no good. Lack of character development and so on.
Personally i was expecting an action movie, based on the comic 300 so I really got what i wanted . Liked it very much and well i wanted the guys to keep marching, man!!! they had such good build up *__*

Old news, i know, but figured to update nonetheless.
Go Hollywood for falling to their favourite sin: greed.

'300' Sequel Officially in the Works
A follow-up to the 2007 blockbuster ''300'' is getting rolling, with Frank Miller writing

It's more of a prequel, I guess it has to be, most of them died at the end.

My ancient history is pretty good, but I've no idea what the story could be about, the Battle of Thermopylae was the highlight of King Leonidas' life.
