Seed Troubles(Not connecting)

I go to download a torrent and it says that it has 12 seeds, the website says that its updated every 20min and has read between 9-13 seeds always, when i connect it only connects to 1 or 2 seeds, yeilding slow D/L's. When i go to advanced is says "R" in the connections, so i know its not my router, any advice?

That is too harsh, ruztynail (2 total posts as I'm writing this). You could have at least referred mrperson60 to this link. It would seem that mrperson60 has done his homework as demonstrated by his understanding that connecting to "remote" peers/seeds at all means that his router is forwarding the right ports. He was just asking for advice perhaps because he missed something while reading others' posts.

As for suggestions, it is likely that the tracker is assigning the other 10 seeds to other downloaders. You'll have to be patient, especially if the file has a high leech-to-seed ratio (see this link). Your download speed should increase in time as other peers who are connected to the other seeds obtain parts of the file and begin to offer the parts to you.

hey i read the firewall problems etc.. for speeds...
and my torrent speeds are gayed up as well....

(BIG QUESTION)
does win98 have a firewall automatically installed in it.. ??
cos if it doesn't then i guess firewall is not the problem here..

seeds aint the problem either
for example...
naruto has it's 2000+ seeds in a 1 to 1 ratio with d/lers
hence it should work fine correct...?

yet i get 2k/s at MAX (no remote connections..)

and i don't have a router

AFAIK no, Win98 doesn't have an internal firewall, since it wasn't made for the 'net.

There, if you don't have any RC, it's because there is a problem with your incoming connections.
If you connect only with Local peers, you will get less transfert and less download rate.
If you have a firewall turn it off for a few seconds before the BT DL and see if you can connect yourself with Remote peers.

thanx for the quick reply... =)

i don't have a firewall... (not that i know of anyway)
cos i formatted like an hour ago
hence there should only be basic system files etc..
but it still gives me the no remote connections ....

do network cables (i.e direct connections thru 2 comps by network cables) act as a router..?
cos i doubt it would

Are you saying that you connect to the internet through another PC?

If so, then that's your problem. You would need to configure the other PC that is acting as a primitive router for yours to forward the ports to your PC.
