Talking about team dynamics.

Erio = Tank a la Warrior
Subaru = Burst DPS a la Rogue
Teana = Burst DPS a la Hunter
Caro = Warlock, because of her Pet and her "I Win" buttons boosts.
I don't know, with the amount of beating Subaru can take, and is being trained to take, I'd rather place her as a fury warrior then a rogue.

Standart tactic in weak groups: Ask one or more high level budies to help. They'll just ask their lvl 60 epix superiors to clear the room.

Possibly, but we all know melee attacks are more effective against drones (point case, Subaru) My point still stands, Friedrich was nowhere near as powerfull as a Starlight Breaker, despite using a humongous summoning circle.
If you mean more effective as in easier to use, then yeah but in terms of damage, Teana has proven that range still could hurt them.

Also, starlight breaker is for a 'short term' burst damage, while Friedrich could be left on the field to deal damage, though not as fast, but much longer... Also the dragon has more utility.

True, but the blast in question did not hit the armor, it hit the barier.

Again, true, but it proves my point: circle size =/= power.

Utillity? Yes. Size? Yes. Power? No.

If you watch each member's training sequence closely...
- Vita explains Subaru how to defend and survive as a Center Forward, always staying in the tickest of battle.
- Fate regards Erio that he is "not as sturdy as Vita and Subaru", thus she teaches em how to dodge and evade, rather than taking hit.
- Nanoha trained Teana to be a "Living CIWS" or even a "Living Aegis-destroyer", able to dominate the field from center of team.
- Caro is... well, Caro. Fate had her in pair with Erio, so I suppose Caro took same training to Erio, in order to stay out of harm and taking good place for support.
So, it's more like;

Subaru = Main Tank
Erio = Melee DD / Secondary Tank if necessary
Teana = Ranged DD / Crowd Control (She got illusory magics too, remember?)
Caro = Self-explanatory

Also noted that canonically nobody said Caro can't heal... it's possible that she didn't use it, yet.
(It's 90% given Subaru and Tia can't heal though, otherwise they would've healed Tia in Ep1)

Anyways, I agree with Thisguy's character roles. However, I think Teana is more crowd-control/support than DD.

Teana does feel more of a Archer class to me. with Crowd Control she lacks the AOE for it, and her illusions takes large amount of magic so I don't think it can distract a large number of enermies.

I'm pretty sure her stamina has increase exesively during the training periods, not to mention she now has a propper device. Since she shares Nanoha's position, I would expect her to learn AoE somehwere along the series.

Actually, about the lack of AOE...

... If we look at the Op, Erio did pull off a lightning attack that seems to spread out in an area...

If not for the lack of healing spells, that would have made him a palladin.

Remember that her device is named Cross Mirage, and specifically created to fit Teana's style...
I wouldn't be suprised if CM not only support her shootings, but also support her using illusion magics too.

Let me use Thisguy's model and break it down in RO terms :
Erio is settled on a Spear agi knight I think.
Subaru - Asura monk?
Teana - Hybrid Hunter
Caro - int/dex Priestess

Signum - Vit Paladin
Vita - serk Lord Knight

Nanoha - Int/Vit Wizard
Fate - Agi LK?
Hayate - Int/dex Wizard?

Chaos are we pushing for 1000?

Go and check in Gundam, Naruto and Haruhi threads. Still 1000 should be easy if everyone post all night, for today and tommorrow right I look at the pityfulness of Nanoha first season thread

Does anyone know where did Vita and others was trained when they first joined TSAB? Since she did seemed to say she had a pity bad time with it, makes me wonder how much blood was spilled then

Taken from the Post A's manga...

"Armed Corps of the Special Investigations Assistance Department"

... Then somewhere down the line I heard something about the Mid-Childa's army...

Subaru - Monk w/ Knight
Teana - Engineer w/ Time Mage
Erio - Dragoon w/ Samurai
Caro - White Mage w/ Summoner

Signum - Knight w/ Samurai
Vita - Geomancer w/ Knight

Nanoha - Black Mage w/ Time Mage
Fate - Ninja w/ Black Mage
Hayate - Calculator

Subaru is Heavy Calvary. She usually smashes her way into an enemy line with her Power Skates, shockwaves and throws the iron around before rolling out of the carnage. In terms of mobility, even without flight she can get wherever she needs to quickly. Combined with her innate aggression and high physical strength, this girl is a close assault monster in the making. Her weakness is the limited attack range of her weapon, so she needs to get really close to do the hurt.

The drawback to this style is 4-fold, if she's not careful she'll get swamped by the horde. Otherwise, she'll need to increase her defense, endurance and find some way to mitigate her short attack range. Essentially, she needs to cool that hot blood some and keep surviving Vita's accellerated defense course . For missile power and defense, basically she has to carry Teana around and deploy her as a sniper before going on a rampage

Teana has a good head for tactics screwed on as well as excellent marksmanship. She IS the center of the current team because of that ability to command, and some really sneaky skills in stealth and decoy . If she could fly she'd be more effective, otherwise Subaru has to physically carry the girl to the field. On a lighter note, the Subaru/Teana Gattai essentially turns them into a mobile anti-air and missile weapon platform .

Still, they cover one another pretty well. Anything the Amazon doesn't have time for, the Longbow will shoot down. Any poor fool trying to go for Teana is going to be smashed to heck in return. As a stabilising influence to the team, Teana will likely call for a retreat when needed. Then she'll find a way to hit back 2x harder. In the mean time, the girl is going to get officer's training-wheter she wants it or not

Erio functions as Light Calvary. His personal combat skills can be considered adequate, although he has nowhere near the endurance, durability and killing power as the front. This probably due to his age, length in training and current specialisation. His speed allows him to skirmish and chase down anyone attempting to retreat, holding the opposition till help arrives. Initiative also means he's likely to hit first for either a kill or crippling wound. Also means that next to being Caro's assigned bodyguard, he's also to exploit any sudden openings for a critical attack.

The bad? He's admittedly somewhat fragile and underpowered for what he's had to face and therefore in the most need for tanking spells But that's alright, lot's of hero opportunities for the boy to grab Caro and Fred, load a cartridge and just rocket out of trouble. Otherwise, he'll just tank up and charge back in like a holy bolt of vengeance. Either way, he'll have to cut back on the impulsiveness and avoid trouble.

Caro I've already gone into at length. She IS the weakest in terms of defense and combat power in general, hence the weak link in the team. Whatever offensive power she has is linked to Fred, and that's pretty slow to charge and cast. The irony is, with the tanking spells, matter manipulation skills and her Deploy Mobile Fortress, Caro's overall defense and destructive potential outstrips the rest of her team combined >_<.

Remove her and the team will likely collapse, making her as difficult to hit as possible is a very good idea. Knowing how valueable the girl is, the rest will make every effort to see that Caro is well defended from attack. In the mean time, let's all pray Fred doesn't go berserk in the near furure

Great neutral definition! Indeed Caro is the weakest AND the strongest. A late game character in DotA terms, if you will. Once she's rolling, it's gonna be hard pressing to stop them.

I wonder if Teana would ever reach Senbon Kagebunshin level.

Just finished reading everything, and wow... I cannot add to an already exhaustive and comprehensive post regarding the team dynamics of the Lightning and Stars team. Good Job

If we're gonna go DotA on here as Kha would like, Caro would be similar to Crystal Maiden

The only comments that I can make is that all of these team dynamics discussions hold true as long as the rookies remain a team in and of themselves, but if you look at the way the show is being set up and specifically at the organization of RF6, the rookies aren't going to be a team much longer. Once they catch up with the older members a bit from all of this training, they'll be split among the stars and lightning teams.

Actually, I'm looking forward to when this happens more than anything else this season, because it'll be neat seeing the old and the new fighting as a team, instead of N & F just haxxing some flying drones while the newbies get beat up.

If we look at the dynamics of the stars and lightning squads, we get:

Stars-
Nanoha: Godhax beamspammer herself, focusing on crowd control and raw power, with crazy AOE's and Macross-style accel shooter.
Vita: The main tank and physical power hitter, probably gonna sit right on the frontlines and take control, while spreading out the pain when necessary with swallow flier.
Subaru: Once taken out of the rookie group, her tanking and raw physical power pale in comparison to Vita's, so I'm expecting her to take advantage of her speed, maybe darting behind enemy lines while Vita occupies them and taking out their support.
Teana: Less beamspamming ability than Nanoha, so I'm expecting her to make good use of her mirage abilities as the team's main strategist, along with covering the center guard with magical gun katas.

Lightning-
Fate: Speed, speed speed. Expect her to cover most of the battlefield at once, spreading out damage.
Signum: Like Vita, I see her as a tank, taking out anything that gets within medium range. Because she lacks the longer range attacks that Vita has, I see her as an even more close range tank.
Erio: With Fate winning out in the speed department in every way, I think he's going to focus more on guarding Caro than being a forward, especially as she is training alongside him.
Caro: Boost/support, probably mostly on Erio as Signum and Fate probably don't need it, and of course Dragon Soul Summon Armageddon shift when necessary.

Hayate-
Godhax at the end of the series.

Well, anyway, I doubt we'll be seeing the newbies all thrown into the same group for very much longer, considering how all of the official material splits them into their respective squads. Although, I agree with what everyone is saying about the team dynamics for the time being.
