Question Getting clips from video files?

I have a ton of anime burned to DVD. Well, not a ton, but that's because I'm very sensitive to how much space my objects take up, and couldn't accept getting a third CD wallet.

Recently I decided I just want to save my favorite anime as full episodes, and just excerpt the OP's and ED's for all the other anime. Is there some program which will allow me to do that?

I'm guessing that there's no program which can perfectly do so for every file I have... one for most AVI would be nice though, I have about 90% of my episodes in AVI format. I'd like for it to be able to do that in pretty good quality (sound is the only thing where I'd like almost no reduction in quality if possible) and be free, if possible.

I'd say Virtualdub will do nicely for that I think. many here use it.

Most of the time a simple direct stream copy of the selection will do what you want.

There's also plenty of info to be found about that program around the forum
