I was at the Long Beach Convention Center several years ago for a trade show and it's a nice intimate venue. Granted it's much smaller than the Convention Center in San Diego where Comic-Con is held but that's not a bad thing since it cuts down on the sheer amount of hiking you're forced to do there. While I'd love to see it moved somewhere with a bit more elbow / growing room, it's really convenient to LA and I fully appreciate why they keep it where it is. This year's lineup looks excellent! I only hope that all the tickets to Sunday's concert aren't gone when I'm able to register. .

Before I rant; I'd like to give a big thanks to "Simoun-Fans" for their fansub! That was quality work and I understand why it took so long. I don't think I've seen such a quality release.
Anyway, I finished the series last night. That was genius; pure genius! The only aspect of the anime that I didn't like was that we learned almost nothing about the oppositional side to the war. Sure, the characters give us snippets of little information on their enemies but we learn almost nothing about them. I guess that wasn't necessary? It's quite obvious that this series was about character development so it was something I easily overlooked. I liked Polaryzed_123's comment: Quote:
I love one of the main messages of the series - half of the Sibylla were afraid to "become" adults. They were afraid of losing the present; they didn't want to select a sex. They were temporarily putting off their future in societies' eyes. I like that message as becoming an adult is scary and I can relate to that fear. By the end of the anime, I had felt enlightened and motivated by the resolutions. While this was not the perfect series, it goes in my top 10. It made me realize that people are very complex. We can say one thing and mean the opposite; a lot of that was going on in the interactions between the Sibylla. Overall, I enjoyed the ride. I have been watching some bad anime lately and this brought me back into the light. |

Our IT department started naming our servers after Muppets years ago. After a while the number of servers exploded and pretty soon almost every character that appeared on TV had a server named after it. Management was "forced to step in" only once; apparently the couldn't spell "Snuffleupagus".

Amazon.co.jp won't ship me the PS2 game due to geographic restrictions. Is there some other place to legally get a copy in North America? And will the thing run on my PS2, or will I need to buy a separate Japanese-localized one?

I've heard there's a way to do accommodate that without the risk of a mod chip, but I forget the details. I think it's something to do with a memory card-type thing.

OnePlusMe is right, NA's PS2's are crippled but if you google "PS2 Mods", you'll find various sites which have 'work arounds' such as disk-swapping to fool the machine. Be advised that while this method is not invasive and doesn't require you to solder it's also not endorsed by the manufacturer.
